Matroska playback

Has anyone successfully gotten Matroska playback?

I can't even see the movie in my Videos directory. I tried adding .mkv extension to the Video importing property in sage.properties. I shut down both UI and service before changing the property of course. But that didn't seem to help.

I've tried using VideoCleaner to reformat into WMV, xVid, and AVI. All format successfully but I loose the subtitles.

Any ideas?

I had to install Germsage in order to watch .mkv files. I'd say the first thing (which you've no doubt already have done) is to make sure you have the ability to play .mkv files on the system itself outside of Sage. I use the Media Player Classic with Germsage to view files that Sage doesn't have the ability to play.

You've stated that you added the extension to the config file, and I don't know how to solve that issue except to make sure you refresh your imported media file. Forgetting to do that resulted in many pleadings with my computer in the past.

Hope some of this helps you out.

Thanks for the reply. I went back and checked my properties file. I forgot the period in front of the mkv. Now I can play the file now.

But it doesn't show the subtitles.

try renaming the .mkv to .avi

I have no idea why it works for me, but every .mkv movie I have I renamed to avi and it worked perfectly in WMP and Sage

They way I did it was to install ZoomPlayer Pro which has an optional MKV playback plugin.

Then I just added .MKV to the properties file to scan for that file type.

Works great.

I added it in properties, and installed the haali media splitter. Works with zero problems. I can only think of one time when it thought that the file was audio for some reason but restarting the software fixed that.
