Odd problem with MCE500's anyone encounter this

I was getting recordings of black static with static noise. but they were random.

after some trial and error (deleting all tuners and then adding just one them removing that one and adding the next restarting sage between each attempt)

I discovered something really odd. I don't have a bad tuners card. I have 2 half bad tuner cards.

Tuner #1 of EACH MCE500 works fine while Tuner #2 of EACH MCE500 is giving me the grief.

Anyione encounter anything like this ? suggestion if possible on how to fix this? reinstalled all drivers etc.. no joy. Looking for my backup so I can fully determine if its hardware or software.

Ideas ?

Replacing 1 MCE500 is going to be painful but replacing 2 is REALLY gonna hurt :-(

Did you ever have good quality from both tuners?

This sounds like a problem I encountered when upgrading to the latest drivers from Hauppauge. I had very good quality on both tuners with the original drivers that came with the card. When I upgraded the quality on both tuners went way down, tuner 1 was much better than tuner 2 but not acceptable. I contacted Hauppauge support and the result was:
"The problem is related to the tuners that you have on your board. They are newer and the engineers are working already on a newer driver to address that specific problem. I’ll send you a new driver when its available."
I got the new drivers about a week ago and they work fine.
I used the work-arond of using the original drivers until I got the new ones.

Hmm interesting except mine were working fine and now suddenly stoped working with me having made no changes. I tried installing the latest drivers but that did not help it.

I also get "nothing" on the second tuners :-(

thats interesting that drivers caused your issue. I hope a simple driver can fix mins as these things are not cheap :-)
