Problem with SageTV it appears to hang

I am currently testing the trial version of SageTV with a WinTV PVR 350 but when viewing programs I see way too many hangs of the software. The recording proceeds without problems unless I kill the program to correct this condition. I currently have this hang condition while recording. I just finishing viewing a program and was prompted to delete. I selected yes and was taken to the Sage Recordings screen. I then selected "Delete now" for the program just viewed and was waiting for the X across the block which never came. This hang seems a little diffenent in that the time does appear to be updated. The Windows Task Manager sbows the SageTV.exe bouncing between 0 and 3 % while idle is at 90%. My light shows the low activity of a normal record. This is about the third time today I have seen a hang. I can usually kill this process and restart it but sometimes it requires a complete reboot of my system to restart SageTV. I am using a plugin to get the guide information. I did encounter a hang earlier today about the time the guide was to be updated. But that hang was also when I finishing viewing a program. Another hang occured one time when I came out of sleep mode. I just noticed that the time on the current hung screen appears to only be updated every 5 mins.

Has anyone else seen this problem? Any ideas what to try to solve it. Is it possible Sage is really doing something it has been at least 15 mins. with no sign of life.

This is a known bug with the PVR-350.

Not sure what codecs are, but tell me where to look and I can tell yeu. I just reviewed the detailed setup and don't see any reference to codecs. The video Decoder is "InterVideo NonCSS Video Decoder for Hauppauge". The Audio Decoder "InterVideo NonCSS Audio Decoder for Hauppauge".

BTW: about 20 minites after this hang occurred my computer completely locked up.

If "known" can you point me to an article or documentation about it? On the surfuce this does not seem resonable to me because at the time the software should have been removing a file. I fail to see why the 350 would be involved except for the recording. As I stated the recording continues to work properly even recording the next scheduled program. This hang just prevents me from using Sage to view, delete, modify or schedule or any programs. I usually just use Windows Media Player to view until I restart Sage.

carlgar,
Those are the codecs I'm referring to. They are the ones I use and what I would recommend.

fidget,
I'm not aware of any "known" bugs with the 350 either. Would you please elaborate?

Here and I have reported the problem through another mechanism. It seems to be tied to using the hardware decoder.

I have reviewed the article and I do not believe that is the same problem. I can use SageTV 90% of the time with no problem. I can shut down SageTV normally. Thank You for reporting the problem. I also just verified the " Hauppauge Win TV PVR PCI II (Encoder/Decoder) driver version as 1.17.390.21196, dated 7/15/2003.

This is a known bug with the PVR350, and damn annoying. If its still there with Sage2, then I'm ditching Sage and looking for something else.

See HERE and HERE
