Just a reply I had a similar issue where the new Sage broke my AC3Filter. I also have two entries in the setup screen, and Sage uses neither when selected. I have tried messing with Radlight and it doesnt change anything.
The new sage v6 uses mplayer for playing media.
You have to disable mplayer's integrated codecs in the sage.properties file to allow ac3filter to work again.

At a command prompt, go into the SageTV folder with ac3filter.ax.

Then either re-install your preferred version, or, find the preferred ac3filter.ax and go to that folder in a command prompt and type:
regsvr32 ac3filter.ax

Or, have you tried re-installing 0.7 (or whatever) after Sage is installed?
Stanger -

So I uninstalled my version of ac3filter, then I went to the programfiles\Frey Technologies\sagetv folder and registered the ac3filter.ax

However when I do this I still see 3 options for AC3 Filter in the detailed setup... why does this occur?

And I still cannot see the audio going through the AC3 Filter when I run the AC3 config utility while a video is playing....

so frustrating...

What 3 options are they? I think there should only be one.

That sounds normal, the control panel app is the "offline" configuration, it won't connect to a running AC3Filter instance. I think there's an option in there though to show a tray icon when AC3Filter is in use, that should get you to the in-use AC3Filter.

Stanger that was a typo, I meant to say it had 2 entries for AC3 Filter in the audio decoder options. One right on top of the other, if I uninstall it, they both disappear (same if I unregister using regsvr32). But when I reinstall, the two options appear again.

Ok, I will look for the option to display the taskbar icon when in use. Because Im VERY certain its not using AC3 Filter when playing videos or DVD's.

After unregistering and reinstalling AC3 Filter, even when selected I get no audio from my DVD's now....

Before this the audio would just be WAY lower than TV audio.

Just to ask the stupid question, you do close/restart Sage while/after you uninstall/unregister ac3filter right?

I'm not sure why you're getting two instances of AC3Filter in the decoder list either.

Yes Sage was stopped when I did it (completely exited).

The two instances showed up right after I upgraded for 2.2.8 to 5 and now I cant fix it.
