Regards from sunny Israel.

Thanks for the beta, well worth the $30. Checking the forum every day for months paid off finally

Few things on my machine - which was happily running 5.04 for months!

1. Pictures - how can I get my images to fill my whole screen... Even 8mp images are displayed as in the center of the screen.. black bars around them... changing "enlarge to fit screen" does not help. Also when will we able to delete photos using the delete button!! this could be so useful for sorting tons of pics and getting rid of bad ones.
2. I have a 16x9 set. Every now and then Sage returns to 4x3 aspect ratio, 2 black bars on either side, only a restart cures this (changing aspect ratio in the menu does not)
3. VMR9 seems to cause slugish response (not the case in 5.04). In some cases the menu gets smeared... only switching to overlay fixes this
4. can't see google videos in VMR9 - getting black screen (with sound)
5. after a while, can't see google videos at all! getting an error message after "video is being buffered" saing "c\documents&settings\temp\google57818.flv: error(-2) files selected for playback no longer are on disk". Plenty of free space on C: and oddly enough, the file is actually there.

Conversion works GREAT. Is there any way to remove the useless (for me) settings such as razr? couldn't find anything in sage.properties

Overall WAF has gone down (she noticed it's a beta ) but once it's stabilized it'll climb back up.... Google videos alone can keep you fascinated for hours!

Thanks for the feedback, we'll look into this and should be able to add an option for browsing it in the style you suggest.

So the new way of browsing the libary must be a "Feature". Who would want it? At least they are open to suggestions.

So when is the next build going to be out so I can play before my trial runes out?

Doesn't the trial reset with each new release? Or am I out in left field again?

It is a feature, and who would want it? Lots of people who didn't like the old combined folder style and wanted a folder browser that actaully browsed by folders on the drive.

You should remember that your idea of a must-have feature isn't always the same as someone else's idea of what is needed. I would like to point you to another post on the topic here.

Anybody else having a issue with their license key?

If I close Sage and then reopen it I have to enter it again. It is also saying it is a version 4 key, when it fact it is version 5.

Also regarding my DVD's on the hard drive, they are not showing in the imported videos directory. I saw an earlier post on this but I think the guy was using something else.

I know this a 6.0 beta and not an SageMC thread, just wanted to point this out once more (as jds already did) - *everything* you can do with the remote can also be done via keyboard - SageMC is only lacking full mouse support. And now I'll shut up ...

License Key upgrade problem

I purchased sageTV version 5 from pcalchemy.com. After installing the v6 beta i was asked to re-enter my license key. The key was accepted and then i was told that my previous version was pre V5 and that i was now using a trial software package. Something is wrong there!

If so, how well does it work? My mp4 files are AVC and usually around 600kbps if that makes a difference.
Can anybody with Sage Ver6, an H.264(AVC) file and an MVP please tell me if they are able to play them?

Sounds like you need to contact Pcalchemy. Older keys have always worked with newer releases so maybe you were given an older one from them for some reason.

Contact SageTV directly for license help. I'm not sure of this detail, but you might have actually purchased a v4 license if you purchased during the v5 beta before v5 licenses were created & v5 was officially released; v4 may have been considered the official release prior to the v5 release out of beta.

At the top of the screen in the video browser, what does it say in the very center? "Titles" or "DVDs"? Make sure you change the view to the DVD style.

Thanks Opus, yep it "Titles", the DVD's show up fine.

Brundag5,
On the License, I got mine through PC Alchemy too. The disc the sent is version 5 so a guess there is some issue with the license there.

Another issue that popped up, if I am playing music and go to play a recording Sage goes a bit haywire, the only way to get it play video is to start playing music again, stop it, then play the recording.

Problems upgrading from v5

Hi,
Just tried to install v6 beta over a v5 installation. Sage takes forever to initialize and never gets beyond the first splash screen.....gets stuck at ' updating media objects'....and says it will take a while. I left it on for almost 15 mins but nothing happened.

I noticed that the sage transcorder uses about 80% of CPU at this time.
Anything I am doing wrong?

A fresh clean install- without using anything from the v5 install works fine however. Uninstalled v6 and reverted to v5 for now. Any inputs will be great!

Thanks,
naln.

Its converting the database and generating thumbnails. Some have reported first startup taking longer than 15 minutes.

When you do it, keep checking the debug file, sagetv_0.txt, to see if it is getting bigger. If you keep opening up the txt file, you should see new lines as it scans your files.

If you have a HUGE library of mp3's and videos and it seems to be choking on them, it wouldn't hurt to temporarily move them before starting Sage the first time. Then move the files back and let Sage rescan them. You shouldn't need to, but there may be a file that Sage doesn't like.

Only if you map it in detailed setup/commands/link However, one word of warning: mapping Backspace to 'back' makes editing text fields with a keyboard a little tricky

I love sage, however we just bought the software last month and now I have to pay another $30? I wouldn't mind the upgrade if Sage did the one thing in hardware that there are more posts about then anything and that is Firewire support! At a minimum for channel changing, I believe that this is much more effective then USB-UIRT, and the Huappague IR Blaster, so why isn't it integreated yet? There are only a couple of boxes that have the port, most people seem to use the 3250HD. From what I understand also as long as the manufacurer is the same (ie Scientific Atlanta) they command are as well, so integration should be easy.

It has been a long time since sage has added an integrated blaster like USB-UIRT. and having this feature is deffinately worth the $30 I believe, and it would releave the headaches that so many users face that try to blast commands to thier STBs.

So can anyone tell me if this is aready done with this version, or can the developers tell me if they will add the feature for us. If they arn't i'm willing to pay $30 to anyone who makes an easy GUI auto installation of this feature, and I'm sure others are too.

Thanks
Armyb77

No, if you bought it last month you'll have bought v5, so v6 is a free upgrade.
