Question big audio oops

I think I might have missed something kind of big in getting my new htpc all setup. Is there really no way to get the dd 5.1 audio from my directv receiver into SageTV using my pvr-250 and SBLive 5.1 Platinum. I kind of assumed that you would not have to revert back to stereo - seems like this would be a major turnoff to using a solution like this. I'm sure it's not a sage-specific issue, but I doubt a directivo has this shortcoming. This definitely is not going to help the WAF that is already reaching dangerously low levels .

Maybe, I'm still not getting it....How do you connect audio into your pc from directv and how do you connect out from the pc to your receiver? Thanks!

Bill

DirectTivo does not compress the video or audio so you don't loose anything. It just stores it in its native compressed format. An external PVR (Tivo, Replay, or a PC built unit) will recompress the audio and video. Hence you loose something of the original. To my knowledge there is no tuner out there yet that can accept a DD signal and pair it with a recompressed video stream. The Hauppauge can only record Stereo and Surround Sound at most.
