Good point. But yes, I'm sure. Weird thing is (and I'm almost afraid to post this) after my post last right, my NVidia machine started working. The only change I'd made was I allowed it to install MS 's auto update patch. I'm going to test more today.

Sage Must Play Video Before Other Programs.
OK, after testing more, I can report that with the newest directX I get the same results as kricker. If I launch Sage, play a video and then launch a movie in TT, it will play. If I open Sage and immediately try to launch a movie, I get the pink screen problem in TT. I will submit a report to Sage.

Yup, but I don't get an answer from technical support. Has anyone here got an answer indicating it's a problem?

Hi,
I was really hoping this had been fixed. This is not a new problem. I first encountered this back in February while trying to use zoom along with sage/vmr9/fse. I wonder how this will affect my attempts at HD-DVD playback.... Jesse

EDIT
Well it is not fixed after all. I tried it a few times and it seemed to work. Now after doing other things and coming back to it, the same things are happening. Last edited by kricker; 01-05-2007 at 11:05 PM. |

Anyone hear back from their bug report on this? I have not.

I heard back from them, they say that Sage is releasing FSE correctly.
They said it could be other software or video driver realted. I tried upgraded Nvidia drivers and updated directX with no success. BTW... I never had these problems with my ATI card before, I not have a Nvidia card, and the problems started. It would be great if someone here could figure it out, because I sure cannot. |

OK, we found a repro case for this and fixed it today. It'll be in the V6.1 beta which should be out next week if all goes well.

Just tried with the new beta (6.1.3) and it still doesn't work properly. I also posted in the 6.1.3 thread to make sure it is noticed. Do you need a bug report again?

Any fix for this yet? I did not see any reference to it in the release notes for 6.1.4 RC.

OK, I'll test one more time, then file a bug report.
Is this working for anyone else that it previously did not? |

Working better...not perfect
6.14 comes closer to working than any other release so far. I can launch a movie from Sage and have the video play in TheaterTek with both programs using FSE. Every now and then, when I close back out of TT, Sage returns as a completely white or black screen. Also, the audio is still a little tricky. Dolby Digital movies play in TT with Sage only in sleep mode, but DTS movies don't get any sound. If I close Sage completely, then DTS plays normally. However, this is a different issue than the FSE, and may be unique to my setup. I use the M-Audio Revolution audio card.
Overall, this beta is a major step forward. |

Bug confirmed and filed. The issues are the same as before, here is a quick re-cap of the bug report;
Sage is set to use VMR9, Sage Mpeg decoders with DX9, FSE and colorkeying all on. launch Sage -> play video -> sleep Sage everything works as it should and Graphedit and Zoomplayer can each render to the VMR9 renderer launch Sage -> sleep Sage WITHOUT playing any video neither GraphEdit nor Zoomplayer can connect to the VMR9 renderer, closing Sage releases the VMR9 renderer and ZoomPlayer and Graphedit can then connect to it. So, it seems if Sage does not play a video after either being launched for the first time or brought back from sleeping, then VMR9 resources are not released properly. And unfortunately once this has happened the only way to cure it is to quit Sage. |
