I hope this fix gets into the final RC. I do a scheduled nightly reboot/restart Sage right now.

i spent last weekend over 5 hours on my HTPC trying to fix this anoying thing and couldnt figure it out. i even reinstalled windows and everything worked fine till i installed sage again. it drove me nuts!!!!!! it was the new CnC3 game i kept trying to play. and i just noticed last nite, while sage was running i couldnt start the game until i turn sage off and then start the game and sage as well. i assume this still isnt fixed in the latest RC ?? |

Nope it isn't and not the new 6.1.8 release either. I have not heard anything from Sage support since the bug was confirmed.

OK, anyone still following this? Is anyone else affected by this? I am lead to believe it might only be my PC. It would be great if anyone else that is affected by this would chime in.

I am still having the same issue. I have just been too busy to investigate it more.
Post here if you get a resolve, either through yourself or SageTV if you can. I am thinking though it might have something to do with Nvidia cards, I never had this problem with my older ATI card. |

Can anyone that has an ATI card test and post results?

Well, new version of Sage, new video drivers and a lot of time time later and the results are still the same.

Did you open a ticket with Sage on this?
Thx Mike |

A long time ago, and never heard back. I guess I should open another one, but the last time I spoke to narflex, he made it sound as if it was something with my htpc. I'm just wondering are there others still out there with this issue?

If this were fixed in XP I'd revert in a flash (I converted both clients to dual boot, so the XP config is still there). Thanks, mike |

better, but not perfect...can you elaborate on this?

Going out of suspend in XP, about 80% of the time Sage would be minimized. In Vista, this happens maybe 2-3% of the time. Same hardware config.
I can't figure out why this is happening, or why Sage when configured to operate in full screen mode doesn't just detect it's been minimized and reassert itself. Thanks, Mike |

Me too!
Hey Kricker,
I can confirm it's not just you. I finally picked up CnC3 for my HTPC this week and when I tried to play it after installation, I got a DirectX error when Sage was in sleep mode. Here's what I found: - Start CnC3 with Sage in sleep mode (3d accel + FSE = ON) = DirectX error - Start CnC3 with Sage not loaded = OK - Start CnC3 then tab out to Start Sage = CnC3 crash - Start CnC3 with Sage in sleep mode, but turn off 3d accel + FSE w/o restarting Sage = DirectX error - Turn off 3d accel + FSE, restart Sage, put sage in Sleep mode and start CnC3 = OK Basically, I found that I need to turn off 3d acceleration (and thus FSE), restart Sage for the setting to take effect, and then I can have Sage in sleep mode to record programs while I'm playing CnC3. However, this drastically impacts playback later on. I then need to remember to turn on 3D acceleration (and VMR9 and FSE) and restart Sage yet again for the playback to work properly. Kind of a pain. I'm running: Windows MCE2005 (basically XP) I forgot what version of Sage, but is a non-beta version of 6 AMD Brisbane 4400+ Nvidia 8600gts (forgot what driver version) recording via firewire from STB |

Can you try my playback method above and see if you can play CnC3 with sage sleeping using DX9 and FSE? Basically start Sage in FSE mode, playback some recorded TV, then sleep Sage and try to play CnC3.

You nailed it Kricker. I restarted Sage with with 3d accel, FSE, VMR9 turned on and then I played a video, stopped the video, and put Sage to sleep. Then C&C3 started up and played just fine.

Care to send in a bug report? I am currently in the middle of another one You can tell them to refer to an earlier bug report by myself about the same subject as well I think I even still have the logs and such.

OK, but report submitted. We'll see where it goes.
