Thanks for this, It is promising for answering multiple problems for me.

How do you designate which blaster port to sent the exetuner command to? I see on the blaster.exe you can program two different boxes which is great if you can designate them seperately.

Granted I haven't set this up yet or even used exetuner before; maybe I am missing something?

i've written this a few months back... but I believe it currently sends on both blaster ports. I can check.

on a side note, I was wondering if anyone have exetuner's sources. maybe i can modify it to an MCE blaster plugin.

I believe one part of the step would be to use the EXEMultiTunerPlugin instead. However if the blaster app works with THAT, is another question.

My understanding was that EXETuner DIDNT send a device_ANYTHING... thus the creation of the multituner. Hmm....

I get an error: "The application failed to intialize properly (0xc0000135). Click OK to terminate the program."

This pops up three times then cmd cloes. Any ideas?

I know exetuner didn't send anything. exemultituner on the other hand sends me a string for the device_name but what I need is a number as in 1=port1 and 2=port2.

That would be my guess, too. The Media Portal project, which these tools were originally written for, requires Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 with SP1 AND Microsoft .NET Framework 2.

yes you would need .NET framework2, but not sure about 1.1. Could you install framework2 first and see if that does it?

Last I knew, the newer MCE's buttons (such as guide and the numbers) did not work with sage by default. So I installed the HIP drivers and such to get it working..

Has this recently changed? All I hear mentioned is the green button?

Most worked for me fine, even the Green Button within Sage, it would take you to the Sage Menu, and MyMusic to music, MyVideos to imported videos.

This app will start Sage, Wake Sage etc with the Green Button from anywhere.

I can second that. The MCE remote and keyboard both work great in Sage.

Just tell Sage you are using the MCE remote and that's it. No additional configuration needed.

I pull out the MCE keyboard whenever I need to do something in the OS or I'm feeling lazy and want to add a new favorite.

All of the buttons worked on the newer MCE remote. You just couldn't reassign them. (I have an old MS version, a new MS version and one from nVidia DualTV MCE) You need at least XP Pro SP2 or MCE. (I think there was a hack to get it to work with Home.)

I just still use HIP. Its a free piece of software, lets you do what YOU want with the remote... regardless what application you are in or even on the desktop and want to launch apps from ANY of the buttons on the remote. Plus, it doesn't get in the way of anything.

HIP never worked well for me. I was running it on an older machine (XP1800) and the response time was terrible when cpu usage was high and often times it would ignore key presses. Sage's built in support on the same machine works perfectly. HIP is nice, but it's not always the best choice.

My BIG problem with the SageTV support for the MCE remote is that you cannot change the functionality of those buttons. Through HIP, I have my My Music button mapped so that it does a delete file, and one of the others to toggle the watched status on a show.

I cannot remap those buttons to do something else with SageTV's built-in support, unless something has changed recently.

Until that happens, I'll be running with HIP.
