Any progress on the Auto Sleep Timer for the Default STV?

Just came home to find someone left one of the MVP's recording for god knows how many days....

Thanks

I am really confused how to set this up with an MVP?
Do I copy this package to my server and then from my MVP import it?
Does it work with Saget v5.04?
Where would I change the property file to have it timeout ?
confused :-)

Yup, unpac the files and put them on the server. Then, in the MVP, import the .stvi/.xml file depending on if using the DefaultUI or SageMC.

with the new v1.1, if using SageMC, you would go Setup>SageMC>Extras>AutoSleep. For the defaultUI, It looks like you need to shut down Sage and edit the .properties files line, plugins/df/auto_sleep_time=120 to whatever you wanted.

If you are using the original autosleep timer, the line is df/mvp_sleep_minutes=120, and it only works for SageMC, and you have to do the edit in the .properties file, no editing in the UI.

Not using SageMC. Using customized 5.04XML with one of my MVP's
I went into my sagetv\clients directory and added plugins/df/auto_sleep_time=1 (shut down the MVP first before editing it's property file) turned back on the MVP and waited 1 minute and nothing happend. I am obviously doing something wrong and I am a little rusty with configuring sage :-)

were you watching a recording during that minute? the Sleep timer will stop playback and put it to sleep then. Try this, start a recording and look at the logs (I dont' recall if you can get the MVP to generate logs), you should see where the timer gets set for 1 minute. Also, if you can go to System Infomation, you may be albe to see that the auto-sleep is set for 1 minute (not sure if that happens in the DefaultUI, it does in SageMC). 1 minute may too short a time to test with. I'd try 5 minutes, since 1 minute before sleep, the timer will pop up a warning message. If you have the timer set for 1 minute, you are already in the warning time.

I haven't tested it with Sage 5.x, so I don't know if it would work. But note that the import requires Java 1.6, and that you have to restart the server after extracting the JAR file into the JARs directory.

Somehow I think this addon has created SageTV instability and also MVP won't start. Server specs are below. I'm running default HD1080 theme. I've started both server and MVP several times.

I too was having problems iwth the auto sleep timer V1.1 and have gone back to the original mvp_autosleep timer. For now, I just have to remember to hit INFO every once in a while when I am watching something over 2 hours to keep resetting the timer.

I posted this in the main sleep timer thread,

Quote:
I've been having some problems with the auto-sleep timer not sleeping after 120 minutes. I will wake up in the morning and Sage is still doing LiveTV. Once, I did see the screensaver, but the audio was still going.

So, for testing, I set the timer to 5 minutes and it works correctly. SO, I started messing with the settings. If set arouund 90 minutes, it doesn't seem to work. And now, I notice that when it does go to sleep, it does so early. For instance, 10 minute timer sleeps in 8 minutes.

No obvious errors in the logs, but I can generate some data for you if need be.

Since this is causing my MVP to never start, how would I go about uninstalling it?

you should be able to go into the clients directory and locate the ????.properties file for your mvp (???? is your mvp's MAC address). Just resest the stv to SageTV3.xml and you are back to stock, or just reset to a pre-autosleep stv.

Yeah.. thought I would give this another try now that I am on the lastest and greatest version. It now works but how do I prevent the server from shutting down??? I just want the MVP's to shutdown.

Not very clear instructions for this.

I am using default STV.

I unpacked the files on the server... then I imported the autosleep stvi on the server.. was I not supposed to do this??

If you dont want the server to autosleep, then don't import the stvi on the server. You should be able to just have the MVP client import the stvi and then use the new updated STV.

If, for some reason that the MVP won't do the import, you could do the import on the server to make the new stv. Then revert the server back to the original stv and then point the MVP client to the updated stv.

OK got it working!

This autosleep utility does not power off the MVP.

It only stops the MVP from using a tuner after a specified time which is half of what I wanted to accomplish.

It would be better if auto sleep powered the unit off.
Is there a customization out there already that does that and if not,
can someone create it?

Any chance of a v1.2?

v1.1 is a great start. There are other features I'd like to see incorperated. Such as...

Screen Saver Aware. Start a timer once the screen saver kicks in, then spoft powers off the MVP once expired. This would allow for a much faster power down of an unattended TV, if watching recorded shows.

Only the Live TV shutdown would then rely on the no key press timeout.

Need Help

In anticipation of receiving my HD200 I decided to give the Auto-Sleep Timer(1.3) a try. My wife can't fall to sleep without the TV on!

Using SageTV 6.5.3 with the default STV

- Downloaded the Zip
- Extracted to ...../Sagetv3

From an extender...
- go to "Setup/Advanced/Sagetv Application Package"
- Select the .STV file from included in the ZIP.
- Select "Yes" to load.

It freezes. Then I restore my backup. Basically I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

BTW..What do the .JAR files in the download do for a living?

Thanks ...Rich

The autosleep timer is an import. An STVI. You want to have the plugin manager handle it. Don't load it as an STV.

Still Confused

I'm still confused. The instructions state:

"import sleep_timer.xml: Settings->Import STVi (SageMC), or sleep_timer_default_stv.stv (Default STV) "

I'm using the default STV. If I go to "Manage STVI plugins" the file (sleep_timer_default_stv.stv) does not show up. It is in the Sagetv3 folder but is not an STVI. It is an STV. It does show if I go to "SageTV Application Package" but if I try that it freezes as I said before.

I'm semi new to this. There are no STVI files in the download.

http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/down...?do=file&id=72

What am I missing?

Thanks...Rich

try changing the extension of the sleep_timer_default_stv.stv to .stvi and try that in Manage STVI plugins"
