Spacecadet,

Did you send your log to SAGE, what did they have to say? Anyone have any luck with this issue yet?

Thanks,
Splicer

I sent my log to Sage and got a follow up where they requested some additional log information. I have sent them the additional logging info, but haven't heard back since then.

Thanks for the update please keep us updated when SAGE gets back to you.

Went to sleep last night before the movie ended and this morning the server was hung up again.

Thanks,
Splicer

My server is upgraded to 6.04 SageTV.

How do I upgrade my MVP to allow and play the DVDs ?
Also I dont see any of the new menus associated with SageTV 6.0
on the MVP.

If you are using a custom STV on the MVP, it doesn't automatically revert to the latest default STV when you install an upgrade. Select SageTV3.xml as your STV while using the MVP.

Fix for this please

It would be really nice if someone could come up with a fix for this. My Sage Server becomes useless every time my daughter watches a DVD over the MVP, because CPU usage spikes to 100% on the server (and stays there) at the end of the DVD. It also crashes computer-based clients that are in use when the CPU usage spikes, and I had to do a complete unistall/reinstall of the client after I was force to do a hard reboot because of this problem earlier today.

I think this is a fairly new bug, because I don't recall this ever happening with prior versions. I am not sure in what release the problem started to appear, but I started having the problem only in the last month or so.

I sent Sage logs and a small example DVD. I was told they are working on it and will hopefully have a fix in 6.1.4.

Just anyone that has this problem, make sure you fill out a bug report, squeky wheels get the greese.

Bug Report

Just sent my bug report. Thanks for the suggestion. I picked up a number of MVPs when Sage improved transcoding enough to play ripped DVD's through the MVP's, so this problem has undermined one of the primary reasons I got them in the first place. Also, because the ff/rw and stop buttons are very slow to respond on my MVPs while playing ripped DVDs, and I cut off most of the closing credits to reduce the size of the files, it is hard to stop the movie before the end and the server spikes to 100%
