FOUND THE FIX!!!!!!!!!!!

This'll be fixed in a new release soon. But for now you can just use the V6.0.19 SageTV.exe with the V6.1.9 install and it'll fix the problem. (in other words make a copy of the SageTV.exe file after you have V6.0.19 installed; then upgrade to V6.1.9; and then overwrite the SageTV.exe file with the one you copied)

Feedback is welcome on this.

I'm just getting ready to setup a server/client situation for the first time. I'm running 6.0.19.120 already, which will be the server. Should the newly downloaded client software need to have the .exe file swapped out as explained above?

It couldn't hurt. But we haven't heard of this problem affecting SageTVClient at all yet.

Ok, thanks. I think I'll just run it as installed and see how it goes.

I run both Sagetv and the Service on my server should I also copy over the Service?

I don't know whether it's the same issue, but I installed the client and it's using gobs of CPU, interface is sluggish, CPU usage ranges from 70% to upper 90%. IOW, it's not usable in this condition. It's a fresh install on a 3800+ machine with 1GB ram and an on-board Nvidia G6100. I suppose the G6100 could be the problem, I've never had any experience with that video solution.

I got the old version from this like:

http://download.sage.tv/SageTVClient_V6_0_19Setup.exe

But after install I only see SageTVClient.exe, not SageTV.exe. Is that still the correct file to use? I just want to be sure and not assume.

Thanks.

Is there also a problem with memory usage?
I use Sage Service and the Sage GUI on my server and when I first startup my PC or restart Sage & service the two programs typically use around 110MB each. After a few hours they climb and stay at about 260MB each. The CPU leak problem does not seem to bother me too much as it only happens once in a while but WOW over 500MB to run Sage? Never noticed this before the latest build.

My hope is that this will help with some of the LAG in Sage. Whenever I am watching an HD file (Mpeg or .TS) and I hit "Stop Playback" it takes like 15-20 seconds and a lot of Hard Drive whirring to finish stopping. It's frustrating. I just seem to be waiting for the "spinning wheel of death" a lot and that Sage is doing a lot of thinking about something important!

Regardless... Sage has really grown on me now that I have DIRMON/CC/COMSKIP all working relatively automatically on HD recordings.

Now if I can just keep my PC from melting...

I've been having high CPU usage with Sage Client v6.1.9. I think I've always had it in the Sage Client v6's actually. Does anyone know if this issue is fixed in the client, besides just the server? I assume its roughly the same codebase.
