Trial version 6.1 No Commercial Skip??

I am a newbie to SageTV as well as the HTPC on the whole. Yesterday I downloaded SageTV version 6.1. So far, so good. But, I cannot locate a setting for Commercial Skip. I have looked in the SETUP menu and in the DETAILED SETTINGS menu and cannot locate it. Is it not in the trial version? If not, I hope it is in the purchased version. (?)
OR, am I just doing something wrong?? Thanks

That would be a customization that you would have to install, so check the List of available customizations in the customizations forum.

I bet its the wording on the Features page that got people confused:

• Browse, search and watch all the latest online video from Google Video including movie trailers, TV shows, music videos and more.
• Never miss your favorite TV shows and record multiple shows at the same time. (now in HD!)
• Watch your TV when you want, not when it's on.
• Skip through commercials in the blink of an eye.

• Use your PC without realizing it's recording TV while gaming, playing music, surfing the Internet or more.
• Record new shows automatically based on what you watch and record.

It should say Fast forward commercials in the blink of an eye.

I guess that's part of it.In addition, I've seen other threads that list a setting in the DETAILED SETTINGS area saying to enable or disable the commercial skip feature. Must be an earlier version from which the feature was dropped because it did not function well. However, some plug ins say to enable the feature in order for the plug in to work. Gonna be a trial-and-error thing.

Just so you know: It was never part of the default product, and the quote from the SageTV site refers to the fact that the FF and FF2 commands are really skip forward actions, so you skip over entire sections of video w/o ever seeing them unless you use the newer Smooth FF on the MVP.

When you saw references to a setting in Detailed Setup, that means that the plugins have added ComSkip options there, so you'll get those options after installing the plugin. The links in the index that I pointed you to should have full instructions on how to install & use it. If you need further help installing it or configuring it, please check those topics.

No it shouldn't, because that would lead people to expect VCR- or Tivo-like fast-forward behavior, which has been a subject of complaints from Tivo converts in the past. Skip is the correct word because the default behavior (on a PC) is in fact to skip discontinuously.

If it said "skip over commercials", I agree that would be misleading. But "skip through commercials" strikes me as a pretty accurate description of what actually happens. Maybe the "blink of an eye" part is a bit overstated.

speaking of skipping forward through commercials, the pixellated picture problem that many (me included) reported, for the MVP, was acknowledged by SageTV Tech Support George as a known problem. Reference

Since the SageTV Server and client don't have this problem, and since I have yet to migrate to an MVP for the main TV, the WAF would suffer.

SageTV needs to elevate the priority in fixing this. Since the problem does not happen with the TiVo-like FF, it would/should be an easy correction?
