Strange codec problem

Ok so I replaced my TV with a new Panasonic 50 inch 77U. The TV is connected to the DVI port on my computer to the HDMI on the TV. I hadn't changed anything else. SageTV 6.2.5 was installed prior to the new TV. Everything was working fine before the new TV. I was using Nvidia Purevideo decoder VMR9, FSE, hardware acceleration and the TV is set to the primary display.

Here's my problem. The only codec that works with VMR9 now is the SageTV one. The rest all show a black screen with pink/red outline of items on the screen. I can just make out some titles and the characters, etc. If I use Overlay or SageTV codec then I can use VMR9.

I've tried uninstalling SageTV and PV then reinstalling and only restoring my wiz.bin file. Still doesn't work. I've updated the Nvidia video card drivers to the latest version.

The system is an AMD 64 3000+, 1GB RAM, XP Pro SP2, AGP 8X Nvidia FX5950. Not much else on the machine besides Firefox, Thunderbird and Picassa.

Please does anyone have any ideas?

Since the TV is the only new variable... Have you tried both HDMI ports? Can you borrow a 7x series card? Can you run MonInfo and see what it says?

Have you run DECCHECK to make sure the nvidia codec is the preferred one? Use deccheck to set preference, and keep sage set at all default to avoid the bad codec selection bug.

Thanks,
Mike

Does using deccheck also set a preferred decoder for audio as well? Or is that even desirable?

It seems to in my experience. I know it's using the cyberlink audio codec when I select the cyberlink mpeg2 decoder in deccheck, since if I chabe the audio parameters in powerdvd it affects my sage playback.

You can override this by manually selecting ac3filter in sage of course.

thx

Yeah, I only show 4 decoders in the list anyhow and cyberlink isn't one of them, I never added anything else as Sage was working properly for my purposes with the Nvidia and whatever else was in the machine. But I do have audio problems now with PVR150 that doesn't have audio anymore for some reason and I'm trying to resolve that...although, I rarely bother with analog cable, but since I have the card I figured I should get it working, again, maybe...
