Compression for a Nokia N770

Hi

Has anybody succeeded in creating a compression profile that works well for for the Nokia N770?

I've tried Media Converter and it works very well, but isnt integrated into SageTV.

Trying to reproduce the conversion in SageTV has me stumped.

I've added the following to the Sage.properties file
Code:
transcoder/formats/N770-Good\ Quality\ AVI=f\=avi;MCompressionDetails\=-vtag xvid;[bf\=vid;f\=mpeg4;br\=500000;w\=400;h\=240;fps\=25;][bf\=aud;sr\=48000;ch\=2;br\=48000;]
This replicates the settings Media Converter uses as far as I can work out (400x240, 512KBs video, 64KBs audio). This does work fine when played with MPlayer, but it produces a file of 300MB when converting the same file in media converter produce on of 200MB.

A few things I have noticed about the two files
* SageTV always seems to produce 384Kbps encoded audio
* SageTV produces an xVid rather then Media encoders Divx

Has anybody worked out anything better or can anyone tell me what I need to change to get the right encoding and format?

to get DIVX labelled video (both are MPEG4) change
-vtag xvid to -vtag DIVX

You are keeping the audio as MPEG-1 with the above settings. To get better audio, try putting f\=mp3; after bf\=aud; or if your phone supports it, f\=aac

You may also get better video by deinterlacing.
ie:
Code:
transcoder/formats/N770-Good\ Quality\ AVI=f\=avi;MCompressionDetails\=-vtag DIVX -deinterlace;[bf\=vid;f\=mpeg4;br\=500000;w\=400;h\=240;fps\=25;][bf\=aud;f\=mp3;sr\=48000;ch\=2;br\=48000;]
Note, I have not tested this command line...

Ah! Thanks nielm.
It must have been the "f\=mp3" that I was missing.

I now get a file slightly smaller than the one from Media Converter

I'm currently using MPlayer.

I've not had chance to try a great deal yet as I've only had the Internet Tablet 3 days.
