Scheduled Recordings Limitations

Why does SageTV only show the next 48 hours worth of scheduled recordings? Is there a way to increase that time window, or eliminate it completely?

It takes compute time to calculate the recording schedule. The farther ahead you look, the greater the computing cost (at a greater than linear rate, if I'm not mistaken).

The default lookahead is two days. You can change it by setting the scheduling_lookahead property in Sage.properties to the time period you want in milliseconds. (All the usual caveats apply about shutting down Sage before editing properties files.) However if you run into performance issues you will probably be told to set it back to the default.

Thanks Greg!

Worked like a champ. I changed the setting to 7 days, just to have a heads up for the week. No noticeable performance delay. When would I notice one, anyway? When Sage loads the first time? When the EPG is downloaded?

I believe the schedule update runs in the background, so I don't think you'll see a noticeable UI pause. What you might see, though, is generally higher CPU usage due to more time being spent updating the schedule. You might also see a delay between marking a program for recording or adjusting favorite options, and the corresponding change in the recording schedule.
