How do you get the album covers to show up?

It does increase the size of the file but you have to remember that these are pretty small images usually. The image is usually like 20k-40k in a files that are usually 2-8Mb. So they end up being like 0.5%-2% of the file size depending on the image and the length of the track (and bit rate, etc). Also, though I like to have the image in all the tracks, others have pointed out that you can have it in just one track and Sage will pick it up for the album.

yet another way to add cover art to an album (that I have not seen so far in this thread)... Windows Media Player on XP -- right click on a track in the media library, or now playing and select the "advanced tag editor", which has a 'Pictures' tab allowing a image to be added from a file..
Windows media player on other platforms does not seem to have this capability...

Hmmm... Windows Media Player can read the album art from a ripped directory of MP3s so why can't Sage? The art is abviously embeded somewhere. It does not seem to be in the MP3 files, but either in the folder or in a DB somewhere else on my computer

I have over 2300 albums and the processes mentioned above would take to long.

I think Sage needs to address this.

WMP places a folder.jpg file, hidden in the folder where you have ripped the music. It doesn't embed it in the MP3. Sage requires the album art ti be embedded in the MP3. This can be handled with MusicMatch and various other jukeboxes and utilities.

It appears that under Windows XP if you right click the folder of a ripped album (via Windows Media Player (MP3 plugin)), go to properties and then Customize you will see the album art.

So why doesn't Sage see this?

That's the same thing. It's just as gplasky said, a file falled 'folder.jpg' is inside of that folder. It is usually hidden and you can't see it.

It appears that the Sage Jukebox was designed to use embedded MP3 covers and not the folder.jpg. This would be a question for Dan or Jeff.

I know it was posted a while back, but I have used The Godfather (http://users.otenet.gr/~jtcliper/tgf/) for quite some time now and I've used lots of other programs as well. I think that this one is the best I've used so far, the only limiting factor to this is the databases it uses to query from (allmusic and freedb). That being said, I've found almost every album in my collection (I have lots of albums), and I've embedded coverart to all of my mp3's and albums. I highly recommend this app. Also, for all you people with jpg's in your folders already, you can just use this app to attach that jpg to your mp3's. Anyway, I'm just voicing my opinion. If someone has already talked about The Godfather, then sorry for double-posting.

Are their any free apps that will embed the cover into the MP3 when it is being ripped? Using the Godfather (which has been mentioned in this thread, I have managed to get the cover embeded into 99% of my existing MP3's. I'm looking for a free ripping tool like CDEX which will embed the cover without having to use the extra step.

itunes...

its pretty easy, although you have to install qt with it :/

just sort your library by album title (after you import your songs, and DONT let itunes handle your library when asked). after your songs are sorted, then shift-select an album, drag your cover art from where ever your have it stored, to the lower left hand corner of itunes (might need to enable the album art pane in the itunes options).

you'll see its progress while its embedding the art. repeat for all albums.

if anyone knows of a quicker way, or a batch method, i too would like to know.

I have already manually converted my existing collection. I was just hoping to find a Ripper which automatically embeds the cover into the MP3 as it is being ripped. Whthout me having to do any additional steps. I'm a lazy SOB as you can tell.
