Default Aspect Ratio for an extender

Still can't seem to find a way to make my default aspect ratio of "Fill" stick for any of my extenders.. no matter what I pick in the settings, the video seems to always play as 'source'...

Is there some way to force the extenders to fill non HD content??

Thanks!

I believe you need to manually set the default AR in the properties file.

I seem to recall that, but couldn't find anything obvious in the properties file..

You probably have to add it. Check the similar threads at the bottom of the page.

Code:
default_advanced_aspect_ratio=Fill
is the line you are looking for. Has to be in the \SageTV\SageTV\clients\nnn.properties file for your HD Extender.

Thank you!

Another question.. isn't that what selecting the AR in the setup is supposed to do? Every time I change that, it seems to revert back..

Now.. to figure out how to determine which device is attached to which property..

I'm trying to do the exact same thing... but it doesn't seem to be working. I put default_advanced_aspect_ratio=Fill in the properties file and it still doesn't "stick". I have also tried: default_aspect_ratio=Fill and default_aspect_ratio_mode=Fill But those don't work either... anyone get this to work?

It needs to be set in the clients\<macaddress>.properties file, not the sage.properties, or sageclient.properties files.

And did you also shut down SageTV service or SageTV running on the server? And shut down the extender? And then edit and save the file?

Is there a solution to this? I'm using SageTV 6.3.5 and the HD-100 with firmware downloaded yesterday (3/5/08) and I absolutely cannot get it to hold the AR to Fill. If I turn the unit off and back on, it goes to Source every time.

It was fixed in the core, I think in 6.3.8.

Heres the response I got from Sage support:

You have to use the current beta. http://www.sagetv.com/betadownload.html

Then close SageTV and service and look for this line in your Sage.properties
file in the SageTV folder

default_advanced_aspect_ratio

You can set the default one there.

Thanks,

This is what confuses me.. does this go in the Sage.properties folder, or the clients folders for each extender..

I run a headless server and only use the Extenders (3HD, 1 MVP).. but would love the aspect ratio to go to fill whenever that ratio isn't the native recording... just like to use the entire screen on the TV.

Still haven't gotten this to work. Sure wish it was as easy as choosing the default aspect ratio setting in settings..

This has worked for me without any problems ever since 6.3.8 or so. The default_advanced_aspect_ratio goes in the <macaddress>.properties file of each extender. Make sure the extender is not ON when you make the changes to this file!

ie - the path on my server to one of my HD extenders is

C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\clients\00085c53a288.properties

btl.

If you put it in the sage.properties file, I believe each new extender you hook up will use it, client settings in the Sage.properties file are used as defaults when a new client configuration is created.

This is correct. Any property not already set in the <mac address>.properties file for an extender will take on the value of that property from Sage.properties, if it exists there.

So you can set it in Sage.properties to affect all extenders that don't already have it set, or you can set it individually in each extender's properties file.

If the property is not working for you, maybe you are using an older version of 6.3, so update to v6.3.10.

i've read all these...no luck....

Until i read the fine print........

I cut and paste to all extenders & main properties file.

it helps to write "fill" not "full"

2 days it took me to learn to read & spell

just thought i share my funny little story!
