Then I hope its a small difference in memory management in Vista that is triggering the bug.
Will try to get a vista system soon

Do you have a not too long recording that always crashes and upload it to my ftp server?

Same here. Other than needing to tweak the settings for h.264 detection a little better I've seen no error messages. Every once in a while I'll find a user dump in the windows debug folder but it doesn't seem to have a pattern.

I've been running every version on my WHS server without issues....and on my Vista x64 client machine. Both are quad Core Core2 machines. One is Q9300 and the other is Q9450.

Reposting from Comskip Forum

I'm reposting my post from the Comskip Support Forum thread discussing "Comskip crashes on HD PVR recordings":

-----------------
I'm on Vista Home Basic.

Does it matter that I have 3 different MS Visual C++ Redistributables in my Uninstall list? Should I ONLY have the 2005 one?

Currently I have the following three:

Microsoft Visual VC++ 2005 Redistributable - 2.37 MB
Microsoft Visual VC++ 2005 Redistributable - 422 KB
Microsoft Visual VC++ 2008 Redistributable - x86 9.0.21022 - 2.05 MB
------------------

For those which have comskip working on .TS files consistently, which MS VC++, and how many of them do you have installed?

Mine has been working fine the whole time and the Add/Remove Programs on my server doesn't show I have any MS VC++ redist installed.

I have a recording that always crashes before getting to 1%. If I upload the first 100 megs or so you should be able to see(or not see) the issue, correct? If you pm me the ftp details I'll push it up.

I tried on a newly setup Vista system.
I did NOT have to install ANY VC runtime so I suggest you remove it because Comskip works fine on a vista 32 bit system.

How about 32 versus 64 bit?
Are the people that see crashes on 64 bit processors, or even 64 bit OSses?

Wierd. I tried running against the same test file on one of my client machines instead of the server and no crash. I'll do some checking and see if I can find a descrepancy. They should be almost identical.
