I upgraded to 6.5.3 last week before my STX-200 showed up. At home it seems to be running well off the server, the 200, and my MediaMVP so I'm pretty happy. Unfortunately the newer Placeshifter is horrible when remote. I submitted a bug report and sent them a few screenshots of the statistics but I never heard back.

Is anybody else having issues with 6.5.3 Placeshifter when remote?

Rob

I dropped 19 in over 18 with 6.5.3 and it stopped playback after about 5 minutes in a high def program. I switched back 18 and all is well.

Thumbs up

Got it resolved. I was on 6.4.8. Upgraded to 6.5.3 and the new MpegDeMux.ax worked. I'll monitor to see.

MpegDemux updated

An update version 2.0.1.20 here
http://download.sage.tv/users/qian/6.5.3/MpegDeMux.ax.

Fix: a bad PTS in a recording causes playing stop after FF/RW.

Qian,
I have been using 2.0.1.18 and it is working pretty good. very accurate, but I get a lockup sometimes as others have, ususally worse on some shows. That said, I watched two Chucks (MPG2, HDTV, no demux hang) tonight and didn't even pick up the remote through the whole show. Wife even remarked how awesome it was. WAF++

I have installed 2.0.1.20 tonight and will try it out tomorrow. By the way I am still using current 6.4 release and have replaced the demux with the ones you have been posting or have been included in the beta builds.

Thank you very much for your fine work on fixing an age old problem with Sagetv (Wow, I looked back at some old posts and saw that I first reported this problem on 09-29-2006)

Hi Qian,

2.0.1.20 seems to be working pretty well for me so far.

Do the settings in

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Frey Technologies\Common\DSFilters\MpegDeMux

have any affect on your new demux, or are these just remnants from the old demux? I'm trying to resolve an issue I've had for a long time with occasional video stutter. If they do work, are there any theoretical issues with making the BufferSize, BlockSize, or NumBuffers too big? Should BufferSize be evenly divisible by MPEG2PackSeekModulus? What are the optimal values from your testing?

Thanks,
Sean.

I am having some of the old inaccurate skips with 2.0.1.20 I prefer .19
I'd rather have to stop and restart playback once per show than have any kind of inaccuracy when skipping.

I did this on my client:
Quote:
-----------------------------------------------------------------
To enable MpegDeMux.log
create an empty file "MPEGDEMUX_LOG.ENABLE" in sagetv directory, restart
sagetv. sagetv creates a log "MpegDemux.log"
-----------------------------------------------------------------
but it didn't create a log file. Do I need to do this on my server instead?

Did you put it in the same directory as SageTVClient.exe, e.g.

C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV

Are you on Vista with UAC enabled?

Did you make sure the file name is correct?

I don't think I got a log either until I set debug_logging=true in the properties file as well.

Here is a log. around 19:05 I had paused earlier and returned to watching and after doing a comskip jump it wasn't in the right spot. It was way off last night when I was watching something that was still being recorded. Was having symptoms of the playback all of a sudden being from the beginning of the show when I was already 45 minutes in then hitting skip again would bring it back to where it should have been. Pretty much behaving much in the way the demux behaved before this thread was started. .19 was working very well for me I think with only having to stop and restart the show once for almost every recording but it was very accurate.
