Are the DirecTV boxes running the same software? If not, I'd see about updating them. Does a reboot of everything help or no? Might also be a cable or port issue, so I'd try swapping them.

I don't think it has anything to do with the with the satellite receivers at all because I can control them with direct_control with no problem. I think it is a Sage issue. Besides the receivers are brand new and a full update was done when they were installed. Anyone?

I also purchased the "Beefcake hardware" and I was able to install the driver and get an additional COM3 port, but it's preceded by "USB-to-One Serial Port." If I right click on this port in Device Manager, I don't get the menu that allows me to change the FIFO levels as described above. I do, however, get that if I click on either the COM1 or COM2 ports.

Any idea why that is?

Ok, I was able to solve the problem. The second serial port in Sage was set to the wrong Com port. You cannot just change the port in set up though. You have to delete the existing set up and run through the entire set up for a new video source all over again. Sage needs to address this problem.

I did notice that Sage did not always get the command right. I would tell it to go to channel 4 and it went to 13. I would tell it to go to channel 21 and it would go to 13 again. Overall it would get it right but about every third time it would mess up. Any ideas on this problem?

The channel changing issue sounds like they're mapped wrong. You may want to got to those channels in the channel setup and reset them to their default mappings. I believe there are 3 things you can change or remap and I'd reset all three and see what happens. Other than that, I've never heard or seen this issue.

I moved to SageTV and HD in June.

I have a h21-100 HD receiver and control it using Serial to USB and capture the signal using the HD-PVR

I strongly recomend getting a HD Theater (HD200) to minimize the HD codec and filter hassle.

HD-PVR 200.00-250.00

HD Theater 199.00

Serial to USB 10.00-15.00
This is very similar to what I am trying to set up. The same tv and everything. Tell me more...I am starting from scratch. Should I go ahead with the h21 upgrade or something else?
thanks,
Ralph
