How do I change the skip times?
I am used to tivo where, when I hit the skip ahead button it goes 30 sec, and skip back goes 2 or 3 sec.
I have the Hauppauge remote (45 buttons), how do I change that setting for time to skip forward and back? thanks

Since you mention being new & learning... there is a PDF manual that is installed with SageTV (or you can download it). As a new user, you may want to check out Chapter 2's Quick Start Guide to get familiar with some of the basics. Chapter 5 has most of the configuration options.
I wouldn't suggest that anyone read the thing all the way through, but the PDF file is searchable & there are cross reference links throughout the manual. - Andy
