Storage Drive Format

I have my Sage recording drives formatted with the recommended chunk size and they work great.

I was wondering if storage drives for DVD's, MPEG2's or Sage files that were relocated should also be formatted this way? My video files are on two drives with standard NFTS formatting and seem to work fine, but in setting up new storage I would like to optimize if this would be important.

The larger sector size reduces fragmentation and should allow the drive to move large files on and off easier, but wastes space.

I would think for a drive that won't see much content change could be formatted with smaller sectors fine and be defragged to maintain the read speeds. On the other hand with the large files involved I don't think the amount of space you would give up with the larger sector sizes is enough to worry about either.

So basically, if you're going to just put a bunch of data on this drive and not modify it much then I don't think either way will make a huge difference.
