Why are the channel lineups incorrect?

I have installed Sage TV with the ICE TV addin and everything works great.

The only thing I am confused about is why when you scan for channels it assigns them to incorrect numbers. It just numbers them sequentially from 1 to 23, with SBS at 1, and Seven at channel 9 etc etc.

Why doesn't it use the same channel numbers as every set top box, SD and HD TV I have every tuned? Is there are way to fix this?

Don't know about the channels, this happens to me too, but it really doesn't bother me as the channel names are there too.

I haven't tried to see if you can remap the numbers. I know my VHS can do that, but...

By the way, you mention IceTV. Not sure about NZ, but here in Australia, the broadcast guide recently changed (part of the 'freeview' push). It now lists a full week, rather than just the current and next show. This may be the same for you, in which case, why pay money for a program guide?

go to setup -> setup video sources -> (pick one) -> channel setup


Use keyboard / mouse so the channel you want is highlighted, but don't click it.
move across to the right, click remap this channel


Click Remap Channel #
Click logical Chan #
