Alternatively, support could be added for the internal task client to accept time/day constraints for tasks like regular task clients do. This way you can load all 50 files into the SJQ queue, but the internal task client will only pick them off during the Sun, 2am-9am window and process them. This one's way more work than my first suggestion, but probably offers a lot more flexibility/capability. If that's more appealing to people then add a ticket for this, too.

Thanks

I put tickets in for both, thanks for even responding during the holidays. The second option you gave does sound better, but it sounds like it may be a little harder to implement

Anyone else having problems with comskip processes left in a zombie state and not completing? Since I've switched to v3, I've had this issue with .ts media, not .mpg's strangely enough. Worked fine under v2. Odd.

I'm using the latest SJQ, v3.0.1.704.

Make sure you're using task client 694 or newer and either:

1) The buffer setting in your sjqc.properties file is less than 200,000 OR
2) You increase Jetty's max post request value as described in the beginning of the SJQv3 User's Guide

If the above doesn't fix it, then I need logs - start with the task client logs, which I expect to point you to the above problem/solution.

I stumbled across the 2nd item in the v3 docs last night. Serves me right for not reading them more thoroughly upfront.

Thanks!!

Hey, i'm using EP's MediaShrink rules from his MediaShrink topic, but SJQ keeps returning:
Sat Jan 02 09:34:56 EST 2010: Starting task with priority 1/1/10
Executing command line: C:/Program Files/SageTV/MediaShrink/mediaShrink.exe "\\localhost\Recorded TV\SuperWhy-Pinocchio-820575-0.mpg" /inPlace /batch /highProfile /cliBitrate 2500
Executing command: "C:\Program Files\SageTV\MediaShrink\mediaEngine.exe" /saveLog /defaultProfile autoEncode /findFileRegEx "avi|mpg|mkv|mp4|mpeg|VIDEO_TS|ts|ogm|divx|mpts|dvr-ms" /mediaShrink fixBug "\\localhost\Recorded TV\SuperWhy-Pinocchio-820575-0.mpg" "/inPlace" "/batch" "/highProfile" "/cliBitrate" "2500"
Exiting Code: (0)

It says complete, but the file is still an .mpg and MediaShrink didn't run. Am I missing something?

Thanks!

Pull up your recorded tv folder the SuperWhy-Pinocchio-820575-0.log. When you open it up, you're probably going to see "No audio and video found" at the bottom. It's the problem the rest of us are having. If your log says something different, post it.

sorry, my brain isn't working right lately. this is from memory, so somebody else could probably be better at telling you this, but you need to log in to SJQ, click on completed tasks, click on one of the "completed" files that didn't complete and copy and paste the end of that here.

any smarter people want to pitch in?

Yes, I thought so too, that's what I posted before. I'll post it again:

I have very simple needs out of SJQ, I am only using it to trigger comskip. I only want to process recordings after they are done recording and I want to skip all channels from 499-876. I looked at the Java regex expressions and it looked like this rule would cover it. But it is processing everything.

I don't know much about java or regex so I could use a glance at the rule to show my error.

if [IsObjMediaFile == true && $.IsTVFile{} == true && $.IsFileCurrentlyRecording{} == false && $.IsWatchedCompletely{} == false && FileExists != "%d%/%p%.edl" && $.GetAiringChannelNumber{} !% "499-876"]
{
:PRIORITY 10
COMSKIP

}

Replace the regex with this:

499|[5-7][0-9][0-9]|8(?:[0-6][0-9]|7[0-6])

Untested, off the top of my head, but should match all numbers 499-876, inclusive.

I am having an issue running ShowAnalyzer from SJQ.

My Task is:
# Identify Commercials in HDPVR Recordings using ShowAnalyzer
SHOWANALYZERHDPVR {
:RESOURCES 34
:CPU "NORMAL"
"\"C:\\Comskip\\SA\\ShowAnalyzer.exe\" \"%c%\""
}

The Resultant Log Is:
Mon Jan 04 22:17:56 EST 2010: Starting task with priority 5/1/10
Executing command line: "C:\Comskip\SA\ShowAnalyzer.exe" "D:\Recordings\TheOffice-FrameToby-2754123-0.ts"

The Task Ends Up in the "Failed Tasks" Section.

Running "C:\Comskip\SA\ShowAnalyzer.exe" "D:\Recordings\TheOffice-FrameToby-2754123-0.ts" from the commandline works successfully.

Am i doing something wrong?

Looks standard/correct to me. That's about all I have in my client config. You may want to increase SA's log level and see if it dumps any errors that might lead you to a cause. Is the edl still being generated?

So, is this a known problem running MediaShrink form SJQv3 or am I missing something? Thank you all!

Yes, it's a known issue, but it seems to be resolved if you call mediaEngine.exe directly. Details on the mediaEngine.exe fix are either further up in this thread or over in the mediaShrink thread. Not sure if EP has been actively investigating the issue or not?

calling mediaengine for me is providing the same exact no audio/no video problem.

That's a separate, content dependent issue.

Haven't really had a chance, my home office is being remodeled right now so I haven't been able to do any work for the last month.

That's most likely related to your CLI parameters or the videos you're trying to code rather than the bug they're talking about where mediaShrink fails to run at all.
