Getting back to the original question, if Sage doesn't continue to innovate and advance in the technology space, they will slowly die out as a company. This is why they put money into new products. Plus, they are probably a bunch of huge geeks that love to do this stuff.

I was just curious, since I've got 1-HD200 right now, and was thinking of added another one. BUT.... if the HD-300 is coming, then I'd wait for it.

I would probably keep the HD-200 since it's being used on a bedroom and not in the main viewing area. The new one I get WILL ne in the living room, and at first I'd only have it hooked up to the TV and not the surround sound because my current stereo doesn't support HDMI. Once I upgrade the stereo, I plan on running every thing thru it. but that's lots of $$$ down the road.

I sure wished that our SageTV friends would set up the store website with the ability to "pre-order" either the HD 200's that we're all waiting on stock replenishment for... or better yet, the rumored new HD 300 with an ETA.

I'm pretty confident that most of us who own prior/current versions of the product, would enthusiastically pre-order a successor model with even the vaguest of an improved functionality description of the product!

Absolutely. I'm not only in the market for another HD200, but I'd certainly additionally buy at least one HD300 to try out the new features.

I'm actually in the market for up to 4 or even 5 -HD200's or HD300's. Probably 1-HD300, and 3 or 4 HD200's.

I know it's a substantial amount more money, but why not just go with a Acer Aspire Revo. They run around $330.

The nice thing is NetFlix/Hulu streaming without having to deal with PlayOn transcoding on your server. HD streaming too. . .

More complex to setup, larger footprint, has a fan and therefore will make more noise than an HD200 and I doubt it can handle full BD rips.

I'm not sure if the foot print is really bigger. Those things are pretty tiny.

I'm also fairly certain that they are capable of playing BD rips. I know people have had good results with XBMC on that front.

I was just reading of some issues with NetFlix HD though. Silverlight may not be quite up to the task, which shoots a huge hole in one of my main reasons for thinking about this route.

Extenders are the way to go for most. Especially good ones like the SageTV HD Extenders.... That's my opinion at least.

Bah.. extenders are for the weak.. ;-) Or those with 'normal' requirements... I do need one for my bedroom though, if/when they become available...

It's always amusing to check in on this thread every once in a while. Good reading. Hope, speculation, frustration... it's like a soap opera.

Seems like there are a few people above who think that if a new HD300 came out, there would also be HD200s still for sale (from Sage). Personally, I doubt it - why reorder stock of what would be an "outdated" item? Of course, there would no doubt be a lot of HD200s and even HD100s on the eBay market.

Also, there's no reason to have the whole "an HD300 will cost more" worry (yet). The HD200 cost the same that the HD100 did. No reason to assume that the same won't happen when we eventually move to the HD300....

Personally, I have one HD200 that is currently in the nursery, but will eventually move to the basement, which will eventually become a home theater (eventually, eventually, eventually....). Being as this move is still in the future and I don't have any of the AV components (namely, receiver), there are some items that a new extender might add, audio-wise, that might make me decide to upgrade. If I did that, I would be selling the HD200, as I don't have a need for another extender in the house.

Is there a media center extender alternative to the HD200? I like the one I have but I need another one.

I'm just curious how fast the next extenders (whatever they are (hd200 or 300) sell out.

I think the question is whether STV is actually still in the business of selling extenders?

Do you? Absent any evidence to the contrary, the best assumption is that they are still in the business and have simply run out of stock.

No I do not, so given the available information, which is nearly 3 months of being out of stock with zero explanation, I would submit that ybrew and I have about the same probability of being right or wrong. BTW my question was legitamate and well intended.

I think if SageTV were to stop selling them, permanently, they would remove the listing from their store now that they are out of stock. a la
