HD300 UK Adapter - safer connection

I have been looking for a safer way to connect the HD300 power plug to the UK 3 Pin socket and have found this adapter at Maplin - Tourist to UK Travel Adaptor with Edge Guard.

It works well, the design of the HD300 power plug fits it perfectly and it is quite a secure fit. It won't work on the HD200 (at least its doesn't on mine as the power adapter is a different design).

Just thought I would share this as other UK HD300 users may find it helpful.
Needless to say, I have no connection with Maplin other than being a satisfied customer

I finally found a similar (although European rather than UK) travel plug amongst my vast collection that does actually grip the thin prongs of the US power brick firmly. I have other adapters that don't grip so well at all so if used in a wall socket the power brick droops out.

I suffered with this too. Now i put a rubber band around, works well.

If anyone is after a notebook style psu with detachable PC powerplug maplin have a 60W switchmode ad->dc adapter on promotion for £20 instead of £35 at the moment.

Comes with 8 ends 1 of which fits the HD300. It's also 100V->240V input and 5V 5A to 15V 4A selectable output. 12V is 5A max. Overkill for the HD300 12V 2A but now the same price as other maplin single output ac-dc adapters.

I have purchased two of the sunfone 12w 2amp DC power supplies with the 2.5mm pin and they fit and work perfectly

I have used an old PC power lead (IEC lead) and opened the two outer (neutral and positive) connection holes with a knife. The pins on the power brick then insert into the two holes. This is ideal and cheap for fitting behind a wall mounted TV. With an IEC splitter lead you can use the same power lead that feeds your TV if necessary.

A cheap fix is to use a uk to us adaptor from b&q and some insulation tape to hold the plugs together
