have you ever consider making an overlay freindly UI with studio mlbdude
I am still surprised though with playback more stable in older versions that Sage went gold already
but when Snapstream hits the stores what you going to do?
If you mean more stable in the beta versions of Sage that is probably because PresentionInterval was disabled until the last couple of RC's. If you disable it you can get the same tearing but no stuttering performance you had before.

As a constant user of BTV, I get the same stuttering.

I have looked into making an Overlay OSD. The though was that the video would shrink to 3/4 size and let it wrap around it. I may still look into.

I will try to set presentation interval to 0 and see if the stuttering stops

the betas may have caused tearing with VMR 9 but I think it was more of a performance issue with Sage, Sage seems to run much smoother with the later releases when using VMR 9
Sage has definitely stopped that 800 MB of page file usage

but I also tried setting this to zero in some of the RC's and I did not see any difference

I am just wanting to use 3d acceleration again with overrlay
it looked very nice and picture was smooth

ok thanks mlbdude
I changed it to zero and finally 3D acceleration works good with overlay
I did a test though with VMR 9 no tearing but still the skips

thanks I really thought I tried this before with the RC's after they changed it but it works awesome

What does 3D acceleration give you if you are using overlay? I was understanding that 3D acceleration was for using the transparent menus.

Possibly faster menu draw and aliased text. Nothing for video though.

On my client set to use overlay, I get playback stutters when 3D acceleration is on & I toggle the OSD. A possible slight speed increase in drawing menus didn't seem worth it.

Just to let you guys know (I've posted this before elsewhere), but I switched to the Intervideo Non CSS decoder and all my stuttering issues in VMR9 went away. Before I was using elecard and sonic. I also now have a much better picture than I ever had with either of the other 2 decoders. VMR9 works great as well with the intervideo decoder on my FX5200. Admittedly, though, I am not using the TV-Out so I can't test that with VMR9, I'm using an Infocus X1 projector.

Hauppauge Intervideo with DXVA enabled also works fine for me in VMR9. However, it does not look as good for me as any other decoder.

Ok, dumb question. Where the heck is the "presentation inverval" located. I've looked in the properties file and do not see it there.
Thanks.

It is in the registry.

HKLM\Software\Frey Technologies\SageTV\DirectX9

UsePresentationInterval (1 or 0)

actually Frey has said in past post that 3 D acceleration did include the video when this was discussed the last time

I personally think it looks better with 3 D acceleration on overlay but thats my opinion
