some dvds wont play

I have had this issue for some time but never thought much about it but noticed it again with some new additions to my movie database. I can select the dvd and nothing happens, wont play, no message just nothing. This only happens with a few movies.

Currently using sage 7.1.2.249 mymovies, smm

How were the DVDs captured? Did you compress them (using something like DVDShrink)?

i use dvdfab for all my archives. i just tried the new Diamond mod and am able to play them through it so i wonder if it is an smm issue

are you having the issue with the hd 300? i have been having the same problem for about 3 months..can play dvds from server pc but when i try using the hd300, some videos just show a blank screen. Have sent numerous logs to sagetv technical support and they have looked into it. said there was something that they might work on updating the hd300 firmware but so far I haven't heard anything yet???

no, it is actually on the server pc as well as hd 200's

i have the same issue, every once in awhile after ripping a movie (anydvdhd) they will not play (either via the hd300 standalone or connected to the server). I would say 2 percent of the collection this has occurred on. I opened bug report but never got the problem solved. (It seemed very low on supports priority list).

I had this happen to me on a few movies. Some just wouldn't play on the server or my HD300. I tried to delete and re-add the movies in the Collection Manager but, that had no effect. After playing around with it a bit, I finally got the problem movies to work by doing this:

• Open MM Collection Manager

• Go to the Movie that won't play

• Click on the 'Disc' icon

• Delete the disc

• Click the 'Add' button and re-add the movie (Set the 'Location Type' to Online and set the 'Location' to the movie folder)

• Click OK to return to the movie screen

• Click the 'Save' button

• Rescan media collection in Sage
