No. Only the channels I identified (the non-premium channels).

I have no plans to open source SageDCT.

Turn it on.

Whatever the problem is I cannot reproduce it. I have been running the latest firmware since it came out.

I had a real hard time with windows FW on 2008 R2, it absolutly needs to be enabled but, make sure your exceptions are configured properly. For trouble shooting I would go back to the basics, get quick tv working and verify through the web page what stations are copyfreely as well.

Alright I'll try turning it on. Playback via quicktv, windows media player and WMC all work. But what's odd is that

1. I never had it on before and everything worked

2. All the other test commands work with it set off, such as firmware, version , size, etc. Why would only not the capturing of the stream fail. I can clearly see that the command to tune and start playback reach the prime but something happens and it doesn't receive the stream data.

The RTP data is not part of an HTTP request/response (i.e. the UPnP stuff that controls the DCT).

gotcha. ok so I enabled the firewall and that seems to have done the trick of letting me do a direct record in the SageDCT config app, it can now save a .ts file of the stream. I regenerated the tuners and updated my sage.properties but I can not get a picture within sage. I see the tune request goes through, and the prime is sending the stream, but i think somehow now the handoff from the sagedct service to Sage is not working (probably due to some incorrect setup somewhere) any advice on where to look at from here?

Thanks Andy! I actually think i'm all good, was a problem with the cable company. I can't believe the firewall problem got to me, I know I didn't have FW enabled before and things were working, this is why I had ignored all the posts about enabling windows FW. But I believe when I upgraded my firmware, i also upgraded the HD Homerun software. During the HD homerun software upgrade theres a part where it adjust your FW settings. I believe this to be where the change had occurred to whatever setup I had before. Anyways thanks again to everyone!

My experience after about 2 weeks:

Running strong. I ran into an issue of channels not getting a signal, but I found out that it was a signal strength issue. I've got it split too many times (3 times to serve 6 tuners, once for my cable modem, once for my MoCA network adapter). I had to plug in my Motorola signal booster.

Also, after fiddling with the server, I would sometimes get a "playback" error on my HD200 and I'd have to reboot; then it'd return to normal.

As I documented earlier in this thread, I negotiated with Comcast to get all non-premium's set to Copy Freely. It was not a difficult process.

I'm still running a older version of the firmware, and SageDCT 1.9. I'm afraid to change anything lest I lose my working setup.

I'm able to view all recordings, either ongoing or already finished, in either WMP or VLC player. I like to do that while working on my computer as a kind of Picture-in-Picture.

My main use for this was to record sports games on extended cable (ESPN, Fox sports channels, Versus, etc.). Sage Recording Extender is working perfectly with my recordings.

I'm loving this. My Sage dream has become a reality (completely replace my horrendous Comcast STB). The WAF is high! I've convinced her to use Sage full-time now in lieu of the STB.

Ok thanks for the clarification in your first post you said ALL channels which I took to include premiums and I was wondering what special sauce you used to do that with comcast. It seems according to various posts around the net comcast has been more customer friendly with getting the copy flags set right for the non premium channels. I can live with this, as I'll just keep around 2 stbs and my 2 hdpvrs for premium channel recordings. Sage has definetly raised the bar again with Andys software. Still makes me sad we won't see any new versions of this platform everything else is not one but 2 or 3 steps backwards.

Agreed. Nothing compares.

Halt during recording - SageDCT+HDHR Prime

I've had SageDCT 1.9 + HDHomerun Prime 20110925a working mostly well for 1-2 weeks now, however, still getting minor glitches (halts) during recordings. Watching recordings is tolerable, as these typically result in a few seconds of missing video + some pixelation. Sage reports Halt during recording in system messages. Running on Win7 Pro, 64 bit system w/wired gigabit ethernet + Sage 7.1.9. Log of errors from SageDCT is below. Any input appreciated:

Get on the latest for both and update your NIC drivers. Either the PRIME is crapping out or you have a network problem.

Talking Running 20110925a Without Major Issue -- Now

Initially was running the version immediately before 20110925a. After upgrading, I started getting the halts. The prime(s) would ocassionally have the functioning status listed as "false" for each video source.

Uninstalled SageDCT 1.9. Installed SageDCT 2.0. Couldn't use prime(s) at all.

The upgrade to Sage 7.1.9.X had caused some other issues. Uninstalled and reinstalled all plugins and most of the issues were eliminated. Commercial Detector still does not run automatically without being manually queued and I cannot set an exclusion time for Commercial Detection (select from menu but closing does not save changes). Exclusion time stays listed as [ ]

Reading through this thread, I noticed that a large majority of issues were caused or aggrevated by bad firewall settings. d2globalinc outlined the basic steps to fix the firewall and I gave it a try. Thanks, d2globalinc!

PRESTO! Rock solid and working well. I also changed the tuning delay to 2 (from 15) and the channel change seems almost instant now.

The only weird thing is that SageDCT 2.0 will see the tuners (I can scan for them), but it does not show them under the "assigned tuners" tab (like it did with 1.9). That's okay though since it is working anyway.

Thanks babgvant!

Lightbulb SAGEDCT FIREWALL CHECK FOR WINDOWS 7

Works for WINDOWS 7. Other OS's may follow a similar path.

1. Go to START.
2. type firewall.cpl into the area that says "SEARCH PROGRAMS AND FILES" and hit ENTER.
3. Select ADVANCED SETTINGS from the column on the upper left of the firewall screen.
4. Right click (alternate click) on the WINDOWS FIREWALL WITH ADANCED SECURITY ON LOCAL COMPUTER item and select PROPERTIES.
5. Select the PRIVATE PROFILE tab
6. If not already on, change the firewall state to ON
7. Change the INBOUND CONNECTIONS to ALLOW and select OK

Had a weird event this morning, had a recording fail on my Prime due to conflicts with other recordings. It was the only show recording at the time, and it missed about a few minutes in the middle of a 1 hour show (24 minute mark).

The error in sage shows:
Quote:
The recording of "Smallville" on HDNET at Wed 10/12 9:00 was not completed because of conflicts recording on other tuners. A partial recording of that program has been saved.
Since it was not a conflict of tuners and other recordings, where else can I look to see what might have happened?

The Prime log shows:
Code:
20111012-10:00:01 CableCARD: vchannel 771 (627MHz-9123) access = subscribed
20111012-11:00:01 CableCARD: vchannel 795 (453MHz-3) access = subscribed
20111012-12:00:01 CableCARD: vchannel 795 (453MHz-3) access = subscribed
20111012-12:00:03 CableCARD: vchannel 770 (609MHz-9008) access = subscribed
20111012-13:00:02 CableCARD: vchannel 770 (609MHz-9008) access = subscribed
20111012-13:24:42 CableCARD: vchannel 770 (609MHz-9008) access = subscribed
20111012-14:00:01 CableCARD: vchannel 770 (609MHz-9008) access = subscribed
20111012-15:00:01 CableCARD: vchannel 770 (609MHz-9008) access = subscribed
For whatever reason the timestamps on my Prime are 4 hours ahead of actual time. The problem occured at the 3rd line up, and no other recordings were currently running (yes I was recording a series of shows on 770-HDNet today).

Thoughts?

Also, wtf is this:
Code:
20111012-05:12:14 CableCARD: message: Emergency message on TV - tune to channel 993
It occured at 1:12am, and I had a show recording at that point (1am to 2am) but it appears to be fine.
