Are you using 7.1.9 on all the clients? SageTV had an issue a while back where it couldn't locate the streams quickly so it would wait 30 seconds before scanning again.

Yes, they could implement the NE protocol on the device if they wanted to.

I noticed this morning that the first few live shows I tried to watch on the Prime gave the message 'no encoders available'. After tuning something in on my QAM tuner I was able to then tune into the prime. Seems like maybe the Prime was asleep and didn't respond to Sage quickly enough.

The client version on one that I don't normally use may not be up to date, but it's not even plugged in right now. The two main ones that I use are 7.1.9.256.

I don't use the server as a client.

Is there a setting in the properties file that may not have updated?

Also - what Windows Media Center services can I set to manual now?
Does the HDHomeRun service need to run or does SageDCT Circumvent the need for it after it's setup?

Should I be using a beta firmware for the Prime?

I guess I should have left well enough alone.

Upgraded to 20110920beta firmware hoping to improve the tuning speed.
Ran SageDCT config and regenerated tuner list and now get the 'rejected' message whenever trying to test the tuners!

Oh - and Sage clients can't connect again!

Same here. I got test mode to act like it's working but it just outputs 1 KB file (which of course not playable)

SageDCT 1.9/HDHR Prime 20110920Beta1/SageTV 7.1.9.256

Also - curious what the 'Replace Path' is. Didn't know if SageDCT has a way to automatically update sage.properties or something. I've just been exporting the list from SageDCT and deleting the old entries from the sage.properties file and pasting in the new ones.

More Information

Log info from HDHR shows something interesting here (maybe):

20110925-13:17:16 CableCARD: vchannel 10 (273MHz-8) access = unspecified
20110925-13:27:06 CableCARD: vchannel 423 (663MHz-2) access = subscribed

The vchannel 10 reference if from me trying to test SageDCT - as you can see the 'access' = 'unspecified' and yielded a 1kb file

The vchannel 423 was from Windows Media Center and shows 'subscribed' (and was successfully tuned)

After further investigation I ran a test of channel 423 from SageDCT and it shows 'subscribed' from those tests as well but also produces the 1kb useless file.

is windows firewall on? it has to be enabled for RTP packets to flow... also the web status page for the HDHR will show whether it's actually streaming (network usage).

That is absolutely THE MOST BACKWARDS thing I have EVER heard.

That being said, it appears you are 100% correct.

Don't know why it was working before - I had the service enabled but the local profile set to disabled when I had it working before. While troubleshooting I completely disabled it. After re-enabling it I still couldn't stream in test mode. After enabling it in the local profile it streams again!

Leave it to Microsoft!

Now I just need to get it back into my tuner lineup and test!

Zoop is da poop!

Thanks Zoop!

How counter-intuitive is it that you have to have the firewall?

Not only is it tuning now, it's MUCH faster!

Yup - went through this entire process myself with the firewall.. I've also seen this issue come up before with uPNP networking stuff - It must be something to do with windows having some pnp stuff tied to the firewall service..

Silly question probably, but SageDCT only has to go on the server right? Not the client too correct? Thanks!

No problem.. I went through the same problem and Andy was kind enough to help me over the weekend... just paying it forward, so to speak...

Thumbs up Love it! (My experience.)

Prime
Got notified by newegg that it was available. It sold out again by the time I checked (few hours later).
Finally ordered a few days later (along with a couple of 2GB replacement drives and a BDBurner).

Comcast
This was a lot of fun.

Comcast: "No you cannot get a CC self install kit. CC kits require a professional install."
Me: "Not true, please let me talk to your supervisor."
Comcast made me wait a few minutes.

Comcast: "My supervisor has the same information as me and says you still cannot get a CC self-install kit."
Me: "Strange, I thought I asked to talk to your supervisor, I must not have been clear. Please let me talk to your supervisor"
Comcast made me wait again for several more minutes.

Comcast: "I checked with my supervisor and he said that he didn't have anything else to say to you..."
Me: "Stop! I have tried being nice but this is the third time I have asked to speak to your supervisor. I want to talk to your supervisor now! Comcast is required by FCC mandate to provide CC..." I explained in detail and gave URL link to FCC mandates.
Comcast: "I don't see where we have failed in this."
Me: (Counting to ten...) "I need a CC for my CC device, and you said that I cannot get a CC self-install kit..."
Comcast: "Well, you can get a CC for self-install, but you just have to come into the office and get it."
Me: (SILENCE while thinking to myself "WTF!") "Okay fine. I will be in to pick one up sometime. Thank you for the information."

Click...

Rinse and repeat at Comcast store. End result, got MCard, TA not needed.

Comcast: "Sir, I have to warn you that will cost you $1.10 rental each month for the CC."
Me: (trying not to laugh) "Thanks for letting me know."

The HD card that I rent, and that can replace 3 STB's when used with the prime, costs $1.10 per month instead of $10/month X 3. Okay fine.

Got device, hooked it up. Upgraded HDHR software to latest. Upgraded firmware on primes to latest beta. Upgraded to Sage 7.1.9.256. Installed SageDCT 1.9 All software was installed and configured with SageTV and SageTVService shut down. Got into WMC using HDHR prime instructions and activated with new nice Comcast rep.

Started up Sage, major issue found but eventually figured out after a day. My major issue was that the Web Feed Encoder now had a corrupt file and was preventing any EPG selection. Uninstalled WFE, problem solved.

Added recording sources, configured the EPG source. Success!

what format are sagedct files

I've been using sagedct with my ceton for a while and loving it.

However, I'm also testing the new sage app that runs on a boxee box and just ran into a snag. Some of my recordings playback and others do not.

Turns out it's files that were recorded off the ceton via sagedct that don't playback. After checking they also don't playback via vlc or windows media player either.

Is this a "yep that's what we are stuck with" or is there maybe something I'm doing wrong or that could be done differently in sagedct to rectify this?

thanks

For now, it is a "you're stuck with it" thing. SageTV modified the demuxer to deal with some of the oddities in the TS files, other apps would have to do the same unless the packets are rewritten to cleanup the tables.
