I am on Windows and do want to monitor MLB. Do I need to find the folder named ".livepvrdata-svc" and delete it? I looked for it, but did not find it.

You only need to delete that when upgrading from version 1.0 to 1.0.1 of the livepvrdata server. In the future, I plan to update it so that won't be necessary.

Since you're on windows it should be in the home area of the user running Sage. Depending on the version of Windows, it should be in either "C:\Users\<username>" or "C:\Documents and Settings\<username>".

Thanks. I'll look at doing that for the next version.

Hi all,
SRE isn't working for me again tonight all of a sudden. Was recording Stanley Cup Playoffs and it stopped right at 3 hours.
Did something change? I see update available in the installed plugins but, there is no option to update it.
Thanks!

Have you upgraded to the local server version of SRE?

Thank you Wayner!

I have not, since I don't even know what that is. Any way you could point me in the right direction for instructions on that?

I have a really hard time finding anything these days. I don't know if there is a new place to download things or another place where information on plugin's are. I've heard things about github but, can't figure that out either.

Look up ten post to post 337. And upgrade to the new version using the plugin manager in the Sage UI.

Thanks so much wayner.

I haven't looked into the forums much and only if I'm having trouble. I see there are plenty of new things to look into. I'll have to come back to the forums and start reading again.

Hey Wayner,
Are there instructions somewhere on what exactly I'm supposed to do? There is a read me file but, I can't open it. I feel a little lost here. Thanks for your help.

Edit: I just found the instructions on post #316. I went to install Live PVR Data Server but, saw it's incompatible with the version of Java I am using which is version 6 Update 10. I've always been afraid to update Java since I've heard horror stories in the past but, it looks like I'm going to have to. I know I read somewhere that there is a maximum version I should go and no higher but, I have to find where I read it.

JAVA 7u80 is safe. Java 8 *may* cause issues if you run the Jetty web server.

Yeah, Java 7u80 is pretty much universally accepted as the best option currently for a SageTV Server. I believe everything works under it.

Ok, so I installed Java 7u80 64bit. Sage service and my extender started fine. Went to install Live PVR Data Server and it still says incompatible reason needs Java 1.7. I went to System information in the Sage UI and saw it's still seeing Java 1.6. I de-installed version 1.6 through add/remove programs. I rebooted the server and now trying to start the service, I get:

Java Missing
Could not get information on current JVM
Please install Java Runtime Environment 1.4

So, I de-installed 7u80, rebooted, reinstalled 7u80. I am getting the same message.

Edit: So, I found this posthttp://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?p=346802&postcount=43 . It's old but, do I need to update Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable runtime files? I am on Windows 7 64bit with the 2008 x86 version.

I ran into the same thing in a slightly different context, but the solution for me was to install the 32 bit Java in addition to the 64 bit version.

Thanks so much, I'm going to try that right now. I've been trying to download the x86 and x64 of version 6 so I could go back. I'll get x86 v7 first but, I'm telling ya, downloading from Oracle is taking FOREVER. uhg lol

Edit: That did it. THANK YOU!!

You only need the 32-bit version of Java for Sage.

Until someone makes a 64-bit version of Sage for Windows, 64-bit version of Java doesn't work with Sage on Windows.

Now that you have Java 7, you should be able to simply update SRE to the newest version from the sage UI. That will pull in the local server and update SRE to look for the local server.

Thanks Skiingwiz. So, everything seems to be upgraded and looking ok but, here are two things.

It seems SRE wants to monitor everything that's being recorded. There is a triangle on each.

Also, as a test before tomorrow's Stanley Cup final game, I started recording a MLB game (Cleveland Indians at Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim). In SageWeb, it's showing monitor status unknown and again with the triangle. (I've always wanted to know what the triangle means :0)

I don't know if something is still wrong and I missed something in the setup. Also, I installed Gemstone today but, I think I was getting the same thing before that anyways.
