To everyone who tested the new weather system: Thanks!

The downloadable STV update for SageTV v7.1.9 has been created; see: STV v7.1.9.6, 2011110601.

This updates the SageTV weather system for the SageTV7 STV for SageTV v7.1.9 only. If you are using a previous version of SageTV, it is suggested that you upgrade to v7.1.9.

If you are using a customization, it will need to be updated in order to use the weather information from the new weather support plugin.

Andy, thanks again for the weather fix/update and the quick STV update.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I have not used a SageTVPluginsDev.xml file before. Do I need to delete it (or make any other changes) so that future updates work fine? I reverted back to the SageTV7.xml file and searched for an update and then updated to the new STV this morning soon after you posted and everything works great. I just want to make sure I do not need to delete the SageTVPluginsDev.xml file now that the testing is done.

Thanks.

I forgot about that, but a quick test seems to indicate that it won't matter because the online plugin is newer than the one from the dev plugin file & the newer one was listed when I tried having both in place.

I would remove or rename SageTVPluginsDev.xml anyway, if you aren't using it for any other testing.

I just updated today to 7.1.9, and the weather update couldn't have been easier. It also works with either zip codes or postal codes for Canada. good stuff so far

Thanks for the update! I didn't know how much we used the weather feature until it didn't work.

Quick question, sorry if this isn't really the right place: is there a way to put back the icons that appear in the top right of the main menu, to the old weather.com icons? I liked those better with the 10-foot interface.

I still see the old icons in \SageTV\SageTV\STVs\SageTV7\WeatherIcons\Images, but I can't find where the new ones are located. If you point me to them, I can manually modify. Or are the new ones being pulled directly from the source on the internet?

P.S. I like the new "weather" screen better, though. More info, and a longer "long range forecast"!

I had to run through the STV Update twice to get it to work. It had probably been a long time since I had done and STV Update. I hope that helps some out.

The weather icon on the main menu is always the daytime icon for me. Is that the same for everyone? It's not a big deal, but it's a little odd seeing the sun on there at 11pm*.

I see the same thing, and I don't live in Alaska either.

BTW, Kudos to Opus for getting the update out so quickly.

I'm hoping for the same thing. I cannot upgrade to 7.x. Wife would annihilate me...

Google's weather API doesn't distinguish between day and night - so you are stuck with the sun.

btl.

How do I go about rolling this back out?

I applied the STV update, but have been experiencing some major issues on my HD300 running the custom Phoenix STV. I can play one or two shows, but then my HD300 comes to a screeching halt or turns itself off entirely. The only way for me to recover is to unplug the power for 2-3 minutes.

Phoenix cannot use the new weather api's and apparently relies on the old one to function properly.

I want to roll back this update and see if my problem is resolved since this is update was the last thing I changed since the problem started yesterday.

Thanks for the help.

Is there a way to adjust the size of the short term forecast window? It seems to work fine on the server but for both my hd300's the highs and lows are cut off. I can only see the current forecast. To see more details I have to go to extended forecast.

The NWS extended forecast graphics seem to be OK (eg, can tell the difference between day & night). I wonder if they could just be scaled down, rather than using the land-of-the-midnight-sun google icons?.

Thanks!

Thanks Andy! I rally appreciate that this functionality was fixed. I've just recently spent a bunch on a server upgrade, and this functionality was a really nice part of the Sage "experience".

I haven't spent much time with it yet, but I think I like it better than the old feed.

Take Care,
Mike
