As already been discussed in other threads... apparently if the latest Java SE 6 Update 31 was installed while the SageTV service was on (started) it will stop later on and won't start again.

You should then remove the latest update of JAVA and either install a previous one or reinstall the latest update. Which ever works.

I, personally, reverted back to update 30... fixed the problem.

Never allow java to do the auto update. You MUST stop all the SageTV service and processes running before updating java. You will not have issues if you follow that process. The latest java (update 31) works fine with Sage. This has been mentioned various times in various threads.

Ran memtest-86 over night,

no errors.

As for java,

Is this just an add/remove programs, them download the latest from website and manually install?

OK I read part of this thread months ago now my system is doing the same thing. WHS running latest sagetv with a HD300. While watching tv or movie it stops responding this seems to be happening every few days. WHS connector shows service still running but when I reboot HD300 it is waiting for Sagetv server. I have to reboot the server to make it work again.

There's another thread around here somewhere talking about this. I believe they were looking at Java as the culprit. However, I ran into some issues at work on Thursday and a common theme in the Windows community was that the Windows updates from 4/10 forward are having issues. I've done system restores (uninstalling doesn't seem to fix the issue) on any previously updated systems and turned off automatic Windows updates for now.

Java may be the culprit yet still.

I have always done the auto java updates (not insuring sage was stopped)

I have done a recent update, as always, and as of about 2 weeks now, the service has remained much more reliable.

Perhaps only 1 or twice has it stopped.

Will keep an eye on things, but version6 update31 (build 1.6.0_31b05) looks yo be working.
