Ok. At least that worked. Here is for a Phineas and Ferb. On that show, in plex all I get is the name of the show and the names of the episodes. No metadata seems to be getting pulled in form anywhere and no fanart.

Thanks. Really appreciate it. I set a couple shows to record overnight. Sage recorded them and plex found them but they show up as name only. No metadata or fan art.

What is your scan frequency set to in plex? are you monitoring the location to watch for new files? If so, then what will happen is a show will record, and all metadata may not be accessible until the recording is complete. Plex will see a new file that just started recording, and then will add it with whatever metadata it can find...which is most likely not everything. Trying setting your scan frequency to every 30 min or every hour. also go into the section and perform a deep scan. see if the metadata shows up.

I think I set it to watch for new files (seemed like a good idea at the time ). I can change to once an hour, but that would seem to be hit or miss depending on when it scans in relation to when the show starts. If it doesn't get metadata on the first scan will it try again on the next one or do you have to do a deep scan before that happens? If that is the case, it might make sense to just do a deep scan once a night or something... I'm learning! Thanks for teaching! I will try the deep scan now.

The deep scan does not appear to have gotten anything that wasn't already there. I will record a couple more shows tonight to see if they get picked up after they record.

Having a few issues here....

filename in your post above is:

PhineasandFerb-S02E20-WhatDoItDoAtlantis-9132648-0.mpg

if you go to thetvdb - that is not episode 20 nor is it the correct name of the episode.

Ep 35 = What Do it Do
EP 36 = Atlantins
...

Ep 20 = That Sinking Feeling

not sure what is going on with that file name, but there is no way that is being stored correctly in sage with a match from THETVDB.org

http://thetvdb.com/?tab=season&serie...id=41208&lid=7

can you please bring that file up in BMT web ui, take a screenshot of it, and then post it for me?

Its no longer a mystery at this point to me why it isn't showing up correctly in plex...We need to figure out what is going on with your files, naming, etc.

Here is a screenshot. It all looks correct except the episode number. I think what is going on is an "Episode" for a lot kids shows is 15 minutes long. Often on Disney and PBS, etc., they will show 2 back-to-back as one "show". In other words there will only be one title sequence and song a the beginning and one set of credits at the end, but they show 2 episodes in that one show. That's how you can have 40+ episodes in a season. How sage came up with Season 2 episode 20 is beyond me. Is it possible to pull the txt metadata from the Sage guide info (i.e. the metadata in Sage) and then get the fan art from thetvdb?

I don't think that explains everything though. For example, Masterpiece Classic (Downton Abbey) pulled in all the metadata but no pictures (there are several like this). Just weird behavior.

It explains a lot actually. The plex code works like this.

1) use scanner code to scan sage recording file directory. When it comes up with a valid file then
2) call GetMediaFileForName with the filename
3) use results returned from sagex and set season number, episode number, episode title,
Series title and year (all obtained from sagex)
4) add media item to stack, and continue processing next file in queue.

Once scanner is finished call agent and pass along media stack.

This is where it gets even trickier... Ill explain but need to see a few more things before I can give an explanation.

Can you please send the media info for that item inside of plex, and then show the details for that section "sage tv recordings" perhaps inside of plex! I want to see the scanner and bmt selected for that show, and if you have the plex theme music contributing to bmt agent.

I am attaching a screenshot of the settings for the TV SHow Section of Plex. I didn't enable the music yet. Wanted to get stuff working right first.

I have to call it a night. Have work early tomorrow. I appreciate what you are doing, though. Maybe we'll make progress tomorrow!

Thanks for that image. The media info is like to see is the metadata pulled into plex from sage.. So season episode etc... A screenshot of the media item metadata info from plex webui is fine..

yup, that perfect.

I think the issue lies within the bmtagent. Ill take a peek at the code and see if something stands out, I will also continue to try and get this file imported into my sage recordings so that I can see the logs from plex realtime.

can you send me your .properties file for that recording when you get a second. BMT is not playing nice with this file and I cannot get it to import into my recordings at all :-/

I don't know if it is good or bad that I have managed to find an "edge" case, but hopefully this will help improve the bmtagent. I will send as soon as I get home. Can't get the tunnel into my server working today for some reason.

snds good. The more edge cases we weed out the better. Thanks for your willingness to work with me on this one. Once fixed it will surely be appreciated by other that use this plex stuff

No problem. It's fun and I want to get this working too!

OK. So the plot thickens! This is better than a murder mystery. There is no properties file for this show! Out of the 41 Phineas and Ferb's I have recorded, only 4 of them have properties files. I just re-ran a deep scan to be sure (I assume the properties files get made at some point in that process but could be wrong), but no new properties files were created. I can't see any pattern or difference between the ones it was generated for and the ones it wasn't. I am attaching a zip file with those 4 if it helps (one was not generated for the one we have been dealing with).

I am also attaching a few screenshots to show you what I see if I start in "TV Shows", drill down to Phineas and Ferb, and then drill down to a season. The screenshot I attached earlier showed the drill down to the individual show. Don't know if that helps, but I thought it couldn't hurt.
