Plex Media Server Update

So one day last week I received an update notice from my Plex Media Server that there is an update to be downloaded and installed. So I did the update to server version 0.9.8.4 and now I'm just wondering if anyone else is experiencing issues with Plex getting new SageTV media. I have to force a deep scan now when new media is added or deleted. I've always had Plex configured to scan my library when a change is detected as well as a scheduled scan every 15 minutes, and it worked fine until this recent update to PMS. PMS is informing me that the library refresh is complete but new media is not appearing in Plex until a manual deep scan is triggered. Thanks.

I think this is happening with the newest version of PMS because I have the "Generate media index files automatically" enabled and I believe because I haven't yet let PMS finish creating all the index files it isn't able to catch up to the newest recordings. So I am now letting the indexing finish and I'll see what happens.

I've attached 3 jpegs of what I"m seeing. ABC World News shows in Plex without artwork and doesn't show any artwork in BMT when browsing to the fanart tab... Please see the 3 files I uploaded.
Where are we at on this? Were you able to confirm that by going into the change poster section of the plex web ui for a specific media item you are not seeing posters for, that there are blank posters along with the correct ones?

Thats possible. I have the newest versions running and am not seeing any issues you describe. I did however let it genereate index files completely for my recordings.

Strange - That error showed up several weeks back when Plex updated the core code to accept more arguments. Are you running the most recent code from the google site?

If so did you fully shut down plex, restart, clean bundles, empty trash, and rescan?

I saw your post in another forum regarding airdate. I can probably be persuaded to tweak the code to say "if the original air date is present use it, otherwise use the date fuzzy mentioned)"

Oh that would be much appreciated if you would do that, but I think it would be best if the most current date was the chosen date.

I have other local programs that I record on SageTV that have an Original Air Date as well as the Airing Date, the difference between the 2 that I have observed on one of my local OTA recordings:
1. Airing Date is the date the episode aired for my one recording this is 2013-09-11.
2. Original Air Date is the date the program was originally aired and for this show it is always the same for every recording which is 2000-01-01 19:00.

So using the Original Air Date in this case the episodes never show up as 'Recently Aired' in Plex.

Thanks

please send along the json or xml response in the above case from sagex. use the GetMediaFileForName api call I gave you previously and use the filename for the above situation.

I checked my recordings and All of my have the same date for each of the following:

OriginalAirDate
and
OriginalAiringDate

If you are looking for me to put the "date recorded" that may be a different metadata field which i would reach out to Sean for.

Could the reason the the Original Air Date and Airing Date are different on my recording be because this perticular show is not found @ thetvdb.com? Or is it because it is an OTA recording and the Original Air Date is coming with the broadcast and not from the SageTV EPG guide?

I am not really sure. All of my recordings, well about 95% of them are OTA recordings. If you can pass along the xml/json then i can take a look and see what u have in those metadata fields.

remember though just because its in Sage doesn't mean that i can get it via the sagex apis...

every one of your samples has originalairdate == originalairingdate

BigBrother: below = "Sat Sep 07 2013 23:00:00 GMT-0500 (CDT)"
<OriginalAirDate>
<![CDATA[ 1378612800000 ]]>
</OriginalAirDate>
<OriginalAiringDate>1378612800000</OriginalAiringDate>

BreakFastTelevision: below = "Sat Jan 01 2000 18:00:00 GMT-0600 (CST)"
<OriginalAirDate>
<![CDATA[ 946771200000 ]]>
</OriginalAirDate>
<OriginalAiringDate>946771200000</OriginalAiringDate>

MLB: below = "Tue Sep 10 2013 18:00:00 GMT-0500 (CDT)"
<OriginalAirDate>
<![CDATA[ 1378854000000 ]]>
</OriginalAirDate>
<OriginalAiringDate>1378854000000</OriginalAiringDate>

BigBrother and BreakfastTelevision show up in Plex but MLB does not. Unfortunately BreakfastTelevision has the original air date from 2000-01-01 and not the date of the episode actually broadcast and MLB doesn't have anything in Plex. I guess there isn't much that can be done because the original air date is the only date provided by the sagex api.

MLB should be showing up as you can see above. What i would suggest is take that file, copy it and put it in another location. create a new sections with ONLY that file in it, scan, and send me the log. That may shed some light on why exactly the date isn't coming through.

I sent Sean an email to ask him, but I may be able to use the startime found in the metadata as the "recorded date" That may solve your problem.

I received a reply from Sean and will modify the code to use the Recorded date rather than the originalairdate.

I am struggling though as to which one is truly the more accurate to use. I guess its sorta one in the same and doesn't make that big of a difference.
