Placeshifter files & license

I have movies playing under SageTV7 at home. I created the files as DVD image files (.vob files using SlySoft AnyDVD). If can find a license for Placeshifter, can I view these DVD files remotely? Thanks.

Technically you can, you have create a playlist of the individual VOBs. In order to do this with Placeshifting, you should at least combine them into one file.

If you go to the trouble of creating one file you may as well make it a .mpg file. Then you don't even have to mess with playlists to play the movie.

Since VOB is MPG2 converting to one file would be fast.

There are plenty of tools that convert from VOBs to a single MPG without transcoding, however it should also be clarified that no DVD menus are supported via placeshifter.
