Samsung UN55D8000 HD300 1080P Format Not Supported

OK, got a HD300 off Ebay recently and trying to hook up to my Samsung UN55D8000 LED tv. The only HDMI resolution that works is 480p. 1080p and the TV says the format is not compatible. 1080i, 720p, etc. also do not work but I would be OK with that. 1080p should work I would expect.

Anyone have this issue? BTW, HD200 on same settings works fine.

Have you tried a different input on the TV? The HD300's HDMI output is notoriously weak, so if the input is also weak, it may not be handling the higher bitrates. An option might be an HDMI amplifier, or running through an active receiver that would equalize out the levels.

I think you hit the nail on the head. I have a long 25 ft run and it was the signal. I am a bit surprised the HD200 is such a better signal. Makes me wonder if it was worth the upgrade (downgrade?). Obviously menu graphics and such are a bit snappier and the device looks a lot better, but this has me thinking.

It's a minor issue, that an amp should easily fix. Still makes the HD300 a worth upgrade from the HD200 in my opinion. MOST sets are sensitive to not have an issue with it.

If you don't need the HBR audio capability on the HD300, then I probably wouldn't bother and just use the HD300 somewhere else.
