When I purchased my first tablet, the original Nook Color, nearly two years ago now, I thought that would be the neatest thing. A couple tablets later, I've finally abondoned them altogether. Between my phone, notebook computers, and desktop computers, I just can't find a place or a need for tablets.

It all comes down to personal use/preference. I rarely use my laptop now, I much prefer my iPad 2 + bluetooth keyboard...

Sorry - I've not posted often on forums so don't know how to insert a quote properly but this is to you pjpjpjpj and your question about the tablet and live streaming. And I have to answer I don't know because I'm just not up on what flash live streaming is - I did try youtube - I tried a problematic site someone in xda forums mentioned to do with flickering in his tablet
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1348511
and it plays just fine in mine.

I also use Netflix with no problem and have uploaded mkv, avi, mpg and mp4 files and all play well. This is with the CM7 boot, haven't tried them all in the B&N side but I'm sure they're the same.

I wonder if it's the 1GB of ram vs the 512 in the 16GB tablet over the 8GB tablet that makes the difference.

If there is anything specific you'd like me to try, just let me know and I can tell you how it goes.

My stream almost anywhere solution.
1. Pfsense with openvpn
2. Uverse 12 meg connecton with 1.5 up
3. Rooted mobile hotspot on cell phone (unlimited)
4. Root samsung galaxy 10.1 16 gig
5.emit app - plays all sagetv content
6. Sagetv webserver - to locate the show I want to watch (8 drives in server)

Openvpn not neccesary to use emit app. Emit app trandcode video for upload later. You can fast forward and rewind also. I find android such a flexible operating system.

I've tried tasagetv (paid version). It worked, but had issues on my setup. Mainly 3 to 5 minute delay before video started on wifi or over the vpn.

I have the galaxy without sd slot, but you I use up to a 32 gig thumb drive. Which is quite a bit of content.

I have not tried 3 g streaming, only 4g.

I have an older Android phone that did not come with Flash installed. The chip in it supposedly can't handle Flash video, but I've read on the various Android forums (xda and others) that you can get it to work when rooted. I followed those instructions, but no luck. Yet it comes with a youtube app that plays youtube (which is streaming and some are flash - I think?) so it can play streaming videos of youtube-type formats.

Until they get the streaming ironed out cleanly for Android (through Sage mobile webserver), I just want to be able to stream from the PlayOn app. I can not watch any PlayOn content on my phone because it says that the video file format is not supported. So I really want to know whether the rooted Nook could stream videos via the PlayOn plugin. So unless you have PlayOn and the app installed, you probably can't confirm....

I read that Flash is no longer being supported for Android and that future Android devices won't come with it. I don't know if that's true. But I sent an email to PlayOn support asking them whether they would be changing their streaming format in light of this, and they sent me back a response saying that they were "working on a resolution" or something vague like that, and that I should look for announcement in the future regarding that.

It would be one thing if it were a web-based thing where I could perhaps save a stream and then install the proper player app to play it, but in the case of PlayOn, you are bound to whatever method they have embedded in their app. So I'm curious whether PlayOn videos stream on the rooted Nook.
