I didnt think so...my server is xxx/xxx/1038

And the third number is always the biggest number that I thought was the Max that was set in the registry

Yep-my bad. I didn't do the registry fix on my sage client yet so mine shows the same 242/389/389.

So I just used babgvant's Sage Registry tool and set it to 1024. On Winodws 7 64 bit. Rebooted and now it reads 214/430/1038.

With that type of memory load, aren't you getting java heap memory errors too?

The errors don't keep me from watching TV or doing other things with SageTV but the green "i" info symbol triggers my OCD and bugs me

When I went to delete the notice (again), I saw 42x instances of java heap memory errors last week.

JVM Heap issues on HD200

I recently started having problems with my HD200. It has problems connecting with the service and just blocks on SageTV screen. When I reboot, it has a Java Heap Memory error message. My JVM Heap Size is ok (xxxMB/xxxMB/1038MB - xxx depends on when checked) .

Even after stop/start of service, problem remains. The only way to get the HD200 back connected is to reboot the PC running the service. Daily ...

I have today updated JAVA from Version 7 Update 9 to Version 7 Update 10. Hope that this may solve the problem (so that it's a Java issue and not a SageTV issue - which could well be as I did not change SageTV before the errors came about).

PS still occasionally crashing. I have the java heap limit set to 1024mb. On the server under system information, I see xxxMB / xxxMB / 1038MB.

However, my installed physical memory is only 2GB. Memory is cheap these days so would increasing the physical memory from 2gb to 4gb reduce or eliminate my placeshifter crashes?

My server is now at 189MB/316MB/779MB (before it was 1038MB though). I have been change so many values to test ....

I'm still getting now and then the problem, but less then before. I wonder if it's linked to some new codec. I now also got some video's that I can play on the server, but via the HD200 they freeze or only show every 30 sec a one sec image). Wonder if these are the source of the issue.

I'm still running Java 6_38 on the server with no issues outside of placeshifter. All video - live, recorded, and imported - play fine on placeshifter but when I do a bunch of quick navigating in and around placeshifter, its not uncommon for it to abruptly shut down completely. I then have to restart PS from the PS manager.

I'm just curious if anyone thinks adding another 2gb - for a total of 4gb - of physical memory will make a difference. Its cheap enough these days, I don't mind spending the money...just curious if my investment in time to drive to the store (not a short drive), buy the memory, take the server down and install and reboot might help out.

I added two more GB of memory and am still getting java heap errors with an HD200. Should I raise the limit above 1024MB? I'm on an old java version on the server - 6u38 - could updating the java version help eliminate the memory errors? I hate to mess with java but if updating it would eliminate the memory errors, I'd consider it.

1024 is the limit. Adding more memory to the System will help applications but will not do anything to the Java heap limit.

Ok - so then do others just live with these frequent java heap memory messages? Or is there an adjustment or fix that I need to do? I don't run a lot of plug-ins but perhaps there's one that is more onerous with java than others?

Here are my plug-ins:
  • Commercial Detector UI
  • Google Weather
  • Java Heap Monitor
  • Multispeed Skip
  • Restart Sage from Setup Menu
  • Sage Recording Extender

and all their dependencies. Would eliminating any of these eliminate the java errors?

Doesn't the Java Heap monitor require that you start the Sagetv UI? in the Server? Maybe not cause I see you are using an extender.

PS that is only a few plugins.

CMT
Google Weather
Jetty Web Server

MiniGuide
Multi Function Stop
No Default Action In Main menu

yes, that was my point...I'm not running that many plug ins but yet getting recurring java memory errors. Do you not get them?

Do you suppose upgrading the server to the latest java version might eliminate the errors?

Maybe your Java Install is hosed.

If you choose to upgrade follow this thread.
