It looks like gmail will become more useful as it adds POP3 support, since you can use any email program instead of having to use a browser.

I can't wait until Gmail gets enough users, fully stabilizes, etc. to be supported by ePrompter. A free/donationware(definitely worth a few bucks) program that can check almost every* web email account type out there. I use eprompter to check all my net mail accounts every 10 minutes. Although POP3 access should allow eprompter to get into Gmail, I'd prefer support was native to ePrompter, like Yahoo. Once I'm sure I can always get my Gmail using ePrompter, I'll most likely migrate most of my accounts to Gmail.

*AOL/netscape just made some changes that are causeing some issues for those types of acounts.

Didn't mean this post to threadjack, just wanted to mention a great piece of free/donationware that never seems to get much public awareness. I also have some invites for Gmail, so if anyone is interested PM me if those above have run out.

Similarly, I like PopTray for checking email. It has been a LONG time since I compared email checkers, so I don't know how these two compare, but I thought I would toss out another good option.

Almost back on topic again... I just noticed they have a gmail plugin, but with POP3 support, that shouldn't be needed any more.

I know this is a side note, but figured some of ya might like this. I have had my Gmail account for a while now. I know a couple utilities that can make it pretty darn useful. First is Mr Postman. You can get it at http://mrpostman.sourceforge.net/ It will let you use almost any email client to check your Gmail as well as hotmail, yahoo, and a few others. You might also like Gmail Drive. It lets you use your Gmail account for a storage drive. You can find it here. http://www.viksoe.dk/code/gmail.htm Very cool for you to pass along those accounts like that Knyetwalker. Loves me my Gmail

remmy925, regarding Mr. Postman, why not just configure standard POP3 access? That's what I'm using, and it works fine.

Because its just darn cool to be able to do all your web mail accounts in the same inbox. And the popmail service wasnt always there to use. I litterally have yahoo, hotmail, Road Runner, GMail, outlook owa email going to desktop computer to Thunderbird. That way I can easily manage my emails as well as filter out the spam.

150 Gmail invites

I have 150 gmail invites to give out to the first 150 that pm me or send an email to pyrotechnix@dodgeit.com, be forewarned that anyone sending me email will be subject to the slim possibility of someone else reading the email because dodgeit it a free email site for people who don't want spam and there is no login. also it may take some time to weed through all the requests and it may take a few weeks for me to get all the gmail invites out.
