Is anyone sure the SnapStream(BTV) PVR250BTV is the EXACT same card as Frey's Roslyn?
This isn't really the correct thread for this, but... According to messages from PVR250 BTV users and from the actual sale info from BTV the numbers match the Frey Roslyns. At least as closely as can be expected. ie the first 2 digits, which is what Hauppauge uses to identify a card model/variant. The later digits give more info and the same with the Rev#. But if this issue is showing up on only certian batches of Hauppauge Roslyns manufactured, then were talking about another issue. But there is no hint that this happening. Everything so far has indicated driver issues as the cause of the picture quality. Of course nothing is ever EXACTLY the same, even on the same two cards off the line in a row. There can be variations caused by part suppliers, variations in parts(capacitors are classic) from the same supplier, and of course manufacturer changes. I know this all too well as, I worked a quality Control Manager for Tandy.(eck)

Back OT: Thanks for your feedback. My post was meant to prompt feedback. You gave a very good report and even point out the complexities involved. Unfortunately, too often people post with an issue or question and then when a possible fix is given, we(the user base) never here back. While that's fine(not good, but not bad) for normal forum threads, this issue will only be fixed by feedback from those seeing the problem. I'm hoping you will be just one of many that post... if this helped, hurt, or did nothing on their system.

PS:I wouldn't be suprised if your guess of driver overlap, turned out to be partially correct. After all this is what was the issue with the Hauppauge PVR250 15/16 mixing.

PPS:I think your setup also points out something else interesting. Frey has a large number of Multituner users. Also many Frey users would be getting a Roslyn as a second, or more tuner, for their PVR250. This ssems to be the case with you and I followed the same pattern, but just got a M150 instead of a Roslyn. I'm guessing this helped Frey users find this issue much earlier. But as I said there have been users of a card sold by another company, that have seen this issue.

Thanks,
/justme

I'm using a Roslyn card. Its the only one I have in there for right now since I was building this box as more of a test...but the card works great. Picture comes through fine. Are the people that are having issues combining it with other capture cards? Just curious since I am planning on getting a few more cards.

corwyn, indeed, I was using my Roslyn standalone when I encountered problems. I believe that cmaffia was using it standalone as well.

Do the registry edits help at all? I haven't seen any feedback yet.

Thanks.

Thanks.
My picture has greatly improved as well. Auto-brightness was only an issue on a couple channels and didn't bother me as much as the washed-out picture. All seems to be well now. I am enjoying my multiple Roslyns.

Regards,

Beau
