And to add some variation on the hardware and OS content sage works fine with: I just installed Sage TV 6 on a new box. HP EX495 upgraded with 4GB RAM, Q9550s Quad core processor, 250 GB SSD boot drive and 3 4TB drives. OS is Windows Home Server 2011 (64 bit Server 2008 underneath). Sage is recording via HD Homerun tuners to 3 650GB partitions on the 3 4TB drives formatted 64k block size. The remainder of the 4 TB drives space contain my non TV media duplicated by stablebit drivepool. DirMon2 and comskip. HD 300s connected to the TVs. I'll update to java 7 before long. One step at a time ![]() I have spent a good bit of time with Sage TV 7 and will continue to look at Sage TV 7 on another box from time to time. I see some technical advantages but it can't replace Sage 6 with SageMC UI for me yet. SageMC UI doesn't work properly on 7 and the other UI replacements don't appear to come close in ease of use, non TV media feature set, and presenting commonly used options on screen without needing to press the options button. Overall too many hidden or missing features and button presses compared to SageMC. |

About a month ago I thought I was going to build a new box, install NextPVR as a backend to XBMCs on NUCs as front ends. And just perhaps sell my HD200s.
And I did all that with the exception of buying any NUCs, and selling the HD200s Got NextPVR installed. Got Schedules Direct working. Enabled PVR backend support in XBMC Went to guide and saw no means to set up a favorite. What? That's when I started reading threads about moving SageTV to a new computer. Glad I did. Will be using SageTV V7, HD200s, and the SageTV XBMC plugin for the foreseeable future. |

Photon, I had thought just like you that SageMC was the best. And it was. And I used SageTV v7 with the SageMC add-on but had lots of problems. I've found that using Gemstone, I am able to get very similar functionality, with relatively little effort, as with SageMC.
Although I'm finding that comskip doesn't seem to work as well. I haven't spent time looking into that yet. |

I'll stick with Sage until obsolescence.

I haven't tested it, but I know at work, jdk7_51 has caused me all kinds of issues. They upped the securit yto levels of stupid with 51. I havne't updated my server that high, it may be just fine, I know that the security messed up tons of things for me(mostly related to jenkins)
