Is Placeshifter linked to original IP address?

I had a SageTV server in my house, and Placeshifter worked fine. I took the computer to my dad's house. SageTV still works(after re-configuring for his channels), but the Placeshifter won't connect. The test no longer works either. I made sure port 31099 was forwarded to the machine's local IP. I pretty much copied over the port forwarding rules I had on MY router(it's the same internet provider. Is my system somehow still registered under my old IP? If so, how can I clear it for the new location? Thanks!

If you're using it remotely you can't use a local IP address. Launch the placeshifter and enter the locator ID of your server.

But it should still work if you point it at the external IP address, assuming proper port forwarding, shouldn't it?

Not if you move it to another house with a different IP address.

I guess that's the question for the OP, did you setup placeshifter with a specific IP (won't work) or locator ID (should work).
