sagex help needed

I moved SageTV v7 from XP to Windows 7 and everything seemed to be working fine. However, I'm trying to do some media lookups via sagex and they're failing.

This works:
Code:
https://localhost:8443/sagex/api
This doesn't:
Code:
https://localhost:8443/sagex/api?c=GetMediaFiles&start=0&size=50
Giving this error:
Code:
XML Parsing Error: not well-formed
Location: https://localhost:8443/sagex/api?c=GetMediaFiles&start=0&size=50
Line Number 4069, Column 234:
When Molly learns that her baby is alive, she sets out with Kern and Kryger to devise a plan to intercept the baby before Sparks and Yasumoto can relocate him. Meanwhile, John struggles to keep up with Ethans rapid development.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------^
Nor does this:
Code:
https://dvr_w7_x64:8443/sagex/api?c=GetMediaFileForID&1=22770188
Which gives this error:
Code:
XML Parsing Error: not well-formed
Location: https://dvr_w7_x64:8443/sagex/api?c=GetMediaFileForID&1=22770188
Line Number 8, Column 549: <Actor>Ben McKenzie -- Detective James "Jim" Gordon;Robin Lord Taylor -- Oswald "Penguin" Cobblepot;Cory Michael Smith -- Edward Nygma;Donal Logue -- Detective Harvey Bullock;Camren Bicondova -- Selina "Cat" Kyle;David Mazouz -- Bruce Wayne;Sean Pertwee -- Alfred Pennyworth;Michael Chiklis -- Cpt Barnes;Drew Powell -- Butch Gilzean;Chris Chalk -- Lucius Fox;Anthony Carrigan -- Victor Zsazs;Colm Feore -- Dr. Francis Dulmacher;Cameron Monaghan -- Jerome Valeska;Jessica Lucas -- Tabitha Galavan;James Frain -- Theo Galavan;Nicholas DAgosto -- Harvey Dent;Morena Baccarin -- Dr. Leslie Thompkins;Carol Kane -- Gertrude Kapelput;Clare Foley -- Ivy Pepper;Victoria Cartagena -- Renee Montoya;Jada Pinkett Smith -- Fish Mooney;Andrew Stewart Jones -- Crispus Allen;John Doman -- Carmine Falcone;Erin Richards -- Barbara Kean;Zabryna Guevara -- Captain Essen</Actor>

These look like very similar errors, so I'm confident I have the API calls correct. But, I've got no clue how to track this issue down.

Now, for full disclosure, I did initially install SageTV v9 (a couple of times) and couldn't get it to work. Then, I installed v7 over the top a couple of times, uninstalled v9, and reinstalled v7 two more times, just to ensure everything got "fixed". This has led to Sage seemingly working just fine, but I'm wondering if--somehow--something got messed up in the DB. I thought that I restored the wiz.bin from v7 each time I reinstalled, so v7 never "saw" a v9 wiz.bin, but maybe not. If I didn't, could that be causing this?

Any other suggestions on how to approach this?

I copied the xml into http://codebeautify.org/xmlvalidate, and it's complaining about invalid utf8 characters in the xml... specifically the ' characters.

What happens if you use json?

append &encoder=json to the url.

That seems to work fine.

I was going to edit my last post, but then I figured you wouldn't see it.

Anyhow, thanks for the workaround! Out of curiosity, do you have any idea where the XML issue lies? Is it from the source (TVDB, I assume), the scraper, or something else?

It's hard to say... it could be in the source (ie, tvdb) or it could be a bug in sagetv (ie, Wiz.bin is not storing/reading the utf chars correctly)
