Yes, it is unsupported, but SageAlert works fine in v9. There is a supported plugin that uses PushBullet, but I prefer email.

1. Update Client/Placeshifter so that the "always on top" works again. The only way I can use it is to use an old (java 6) placeshifter, and keep my system at Java 6. Client insists on Java 7, which destroys always-on-top. Since I do much of my viewing in a small window in the corner of my PC screen, the on-top feature is critical to me.
2. Treat all videos as "shows" and make it easier to set up parsing so that (e.g.) PlayOn recordings with files named ShowName-SeasonNumber-EpisodeNumber-EpisodeName show up as recorded shows under the correct name and can be ordered by season/episode numbers in the display. I've heard that BMT is supposed to help with this, but have had no success doing anything useful with BMT for lack of clear documentation. Having this as an available setup-setting would be really helpful. 3. In a list of shows, instead of having to hit page-down or the remote equivalent many times to scroll down to, say, shows starting with "R" (or, which is somewhat helpful, typing "7" or "8" to get into the general vicinity) being able to start typing the show name as "R..." to get there.

And SageAlert gives you a bunch of options including Growl/Prowl for notification. Back in the good old days it could also Tweet all of this information but that stopped working when Twitter closed up their API. It also can send you alerts when all sorts of things happen - like clients connecting or disconnecting, shows start recording, etc.

For #2, possible #3, have you tried Gemstone or Phoenix UI... these UI don't care about recordings and will group imported tv and recorded tv into the same view.

I am not sure about recordings but in a Movie Wall view in Gemstone you can press a letter on the remote to jump to movies that start with that letter. It uses the "keyboard on a dialpad" lettering scheme so pressing 6 takes you to M, etc.

On the topic of the Android client, Chromecast support would be great.

Similarly for Gemstone: I've heard about it, but if you give it a try, can you go back to other UIs if it doesn't work for you? From the info I've seen (again, I couldn't find any real documentation available before trying it), a lot of it is devoted to display of busy fanart images, when I prefer to see mostly text, so I'm wondering whether it's worth the effort. (edit) - I looked at another thread, and it looks like you might be the Gemstone developer - if so, if you can point me to some documentation, that would be really helpful.

You can very easily switch back to the default UI in Diamond. I am not sure about switching amongst the various 3rd party UIs.

I'd say this is a huge one because the answer I keep seeing to various playback/hardware issues is " well I just use Plex or abc tablet or xyz set top player " which requires conversion.
Amen brother, so many scheduling things I'd like to do from within Sage but can't, and SJQ is no longer supported.

Just to be clear, I can still go back to the stock Sage7 or Sage3 UI (not a default Diamond UI) as needed if I install Gemstone?

Yes, under Detailed Settings > Advanced you change the UI package and UI theme back to the stock values.

I just thought of another one:
Change web UI authentication from basic auth to a full login page so that all browsers, especially on phones and other mobile devices, will autofill the password. That would make live SO much simpler when logging into the web UI from an iPhone or iPad.

Support for accepting the hardware encoded MP4 stream files that the new HDHR's produce from OTA sources. I have written lots of scripts to do it after the fact, but it would be so much better if they were written to disk that way in the first place. (no cpu intensive software transcoding)

And similar to that is support for the new ATSC 3.0 tuners when they start appearing, which will hopefully be sometime in 2018.

There is also the pushbullet plugin which has worked great for me. It's not exactly the same, but it certainly can get a notification to you and it's pretty much lag free.
