It is for this reason that I use the Unique ID option. That way you don't have to worry about device numbers changing. I put a sticker with the Unique ID number on the front of the STB.

Yep, I do as well. But for some reason going from Win7 to Win10 it swapped the ID's. Best I can decipher it is because for whatever reason it changed the order that the two HD-PVR's were picked up by the USB bus.
So the unique ID didn't match the box any more, and unique ID for HD-PVR 1 on Win7 was now the ID for HD-PVR 2 in Win10 and when I was trying to change the channel on box 1 it was changing the channel on box 2 and vice versa.
Took me a while to figure that out, but in the end all I had to do was swap the tuning file in SageTV's recording device setup between the boxes. If I only had one HD-PVR it wouldn't have made a difference since there would be only one HD-PVR on the USB bus and only one .ir file.

Of course that was after the "upgrade" to Win10 decided that I had the wrong Firewire driver and installed the "proper" one. Of course that broke the FW channel changing by Timmoore's utility completely. That one also took me a while to figure out and put the old legacy FW driver in Win10 for my FW port. I finally found my notes on setting it up originally which pointed me to the proper FW driver to install.

Weird - I thought that the Unique ID was fixed to the box, kind of like a MAC. Good to know that this isn't the case.
