Which one should I uncheck or do I just uncheck them all?
I am currently working on this code for the next Phoenix release. The code and configuration seems to work correctly but the settings may be a little confusing. Perhaps I will look at cleaning that up but I found the following settings worked fine....

If you want CENTRAL fanart with Metadata...
  • Fanart Enabled - YES
  • Season Fanart Enabled - YES (if you want season specific fanart)
  • Local Fanart Enabled - NO
  • Automatic Fanart/Metadata - YES

If you want LOCAL (saved with media) fanart with Metadata...
  • Fanart Enabled - NO
  • Season Fanart Enabled - YES (if you want season specific fanart)
  • Local Fanart Enabled - YES
  • Automatic Fanart/Metadata - YES

If you want Metadata but NO Fanart...
  • Fanart Enabled - NO
  • Season Fanart Enabled - NO
  • Local Fanart Enabled - NO
  • Automatic Fanart/Metadata - YES
Note: the above config is broken in the current release but is fixed in the NEXT release I am working on. The current release ignores the LocalFanart setting so if you set Fanart Enabled = NO, then it will save the fanart in the media's local folder regardless of the Local Fanart Enabled setting.

If you want NO Metadata and NO Fanart...
  • Fanart Enabled - NO
  • Season Fanart Enabled - NO
  • Local Fanart Enabled - NO
  • Automatic Fanart/Metadata - NO

In my testing this all seems to work in the current version of Phoenix/BMT except as noted above.

Note: if you are going to disable fanart, you will want to rename or delete the existing central fanart folder as Phoenix will not delete that fanart itself. Default location for this is "userdata/Phoenix/Fanart" but is configurable in BMT.

Hope that helps.

Funny that this thread was just brought back, I had not seen it in the past but recently had noticed my server C:/ drive was almost full and after poring through everything discovered Fanart was a large part of it. I moved it all to another drive and re-pathed the plug-in there and it helped tremendously.

That said, the real offender is Plex, which I also have on my server, and which saves/caches thumbnails for all media separately for every single instance of the app that accesses your account. So each smart TV, Fire Stick, tablet, phone, etc., that I own which accesses my Plex account creates a separate copy of ALL the thumbnails/posters/art. From threads I have read on Plex message boards and reddit, the only thing you can do is delete them occasionally, and each time to open an instance on a device they'll just rebuild, so you just have to occasionally keep deleting them... How stupid is that?
