Ok I am Jealous...My FX 5200 does not support Advanced Timings. The driver information says that the card needs to have an external TDMS

I see you are using the DVI on the 5200 I'm using the VGA out on mine I wonder if that is the difference.

Maybe. I will have to see if I can use the advanced timings on my VGA connector.

I have a samsung 27" HDTV and I'm using 1776x1000 resolution (gives me minimal overscan). In my setup, I just have Sage in fullscreen. That makes the TV stretched to fullscreen and there is no letterboxing.

Definitely have a regular CRT monitor plugged in while you're messing with your timings & settings.
