Help Installing Cayars STV 17

I have downloaded and extarcted the three files mentioned on the release page for v17, but my SageTV menus are the same as always. I must be missing a step here for installing the STV. Can someone give me a hint

Thanks,
Mike

After installing the 3 files and starting Sage did you go into Detailed Setup and change STV from Original to Cayars?

jsouthgard,

ooph, not a very good job scanning older posts. I think i'll stand in between you and the bullet and answer this. Yes, run CDRun.bat manually and jsut keep it running. So you can put it in startup or somethign like that. The program is not a service right now, but will be in future versions and I think Cayars has it running as a service on his machine but needs to test it further.

and all of this information was in the post for 18C

I'll take a look at it. I don't see why I couldn't add this functionality.

Timeout Configuration

So yes, it will find them and process them after it gets done the current list it has. You don't need to restart it.
It the timeout peroid going to be user configurable?
It seems that commercial detect is preventing hibernation on my system.
I don't mind when it is actually processing, but I would like to set
the timeout for a longer period so it will (hopefully) hibernate when idle.

Checkout this thread for hibernation (or suspend or shutdown etc.) based on configurable time or CPU usage.

I guess this is my issue too! I been trying for I don't know how long to get my system to standby/suspend.

Thanks for taking the bullet. I never thought to go all the way back to the FIRST post trying to find out news from the last few days.

Commercial Detect Error

I have just installed Commercial Detect Version C. I changed the CDRun.bat file use my two directories, "F:\Sage" and "H:\Sage". When I run CDRun.bat I get the following error:

CommercialDetectManager.exe - Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly (0x0000135)

I get this error with Sage TV Service running, with Sage TV awake, and with Sage TV Service not running.

Do I have something set up wrong?

Thanks

I love everything about this STV. Only problem I'm having is with Weather. It just sits at 'Loading'. I've changed zip codes and still nothing.
But, the Weather Channel is probably no better at predicting the weather than the local guys.

Is this local weather or the weather suite?

If local weather (I think this is what you're talking about) then try setting your zipcode, exit sage, go back into sage and try again. I've seen this work numerious times and it's worth a shot. BTW, once you restart Sage, if it doesn't work back out to the menu and try again. Don't change the zipcode after restarting sagetv.

CommercialDetect (external) play nice

I see you went ahead and removed the play nice from the latest ini. Could cause an issue for some people running commerial detect while not runniing Sage but using the computer for other things. It doesn't on my main workstation AMD 3200+ 1GB RAM, but would likely on slower system. Not having it included means if it's a problem for someone and the person is a new user they wouldn't know to add it! Sure they could ask on the Forum why running commercialdetect brings their PC to it's knees, and maybe there'll be documentation down the road, but wouldn't it just be simplier to include it?

Makes no difference to me and my usage 'cuz I know about it!

I think that I see the same thing as pcostanza on the local weather. I have changed the zip code in setup, restarted the client, does not seem to matter, when I go to Local Weather, all have been able to see is the message "loading".

The Weather suite works fine. I am able to get local weather as well as all the other places that I care about.

Running Release 17 on Sage 2.2.4.

It's a no win situation

Either it not there and people ask for it to be there by default. It there but doesn't come out of the ZIP with the right times FOR THEM, or why is the detect running so slow?

With the newest change to the STV (D) where it can be set to PAUSE when ever the SCREEN SAVER isn't active it should be a moot point.
